Diminishing returns?

Is there a point where your images suffer from Diminishing returns? like Dark frames do etc?

I found that over the few years I was more actively imaging that i roughly doubled the time spent on each target...

There were big differences going from 1 to 2 and then 4 hours. I settled for aiming for 8 hours of Colour DSLR data for most targets...

I never ever had too much data...

However, yes, somewhere around 45 subs you start to get into diminishing returns from stacking. If you can take longer subs then 45 longer subs would be still better assuming you are controlling camera noise and staying below the skyglow.

Going from 6.45 to 10 and i really didnt notice anything new, well maybe a touch but not worth the effort.

How ever this is OSC if only there was a mono QHY8L the price and sensor size is a great plus.
