best views of Orion nebula

Recommended Posts

Gothome last night after a very substantial drinking session and was pleased to finally see Orion in the sky again. In preparation for seeing the nebula through a telescope for the first time in 5-7 years, i am wondering what accessories will maximise the quality of the view.

I have the celestron 6se Sct scope and baader neodymium & IR-cut filter and a baader UHC-S (L-booster).

Wondering if a OIII filter would help?

Also what about a focal reducer?

A focal reducer reduces the focal length of the scope so your eyepieces give lower magnification and therefore a wider field of view.

I prefer to observe M42 without a filter but under the darkest skies possible. Using the averted vision technique brings out the fainter parts of the nebula.
