Losmandy G11 Autoguider

Recommended Posts

Hi there, for any of you guys here who own a G11. I have one on order, as I am upgrading from my HEQ5. I got the basic G11S, without the Gemini, as it was abit out of my price range at the moment.

I know it has an autoguider port, but I have never used an autoguider. I looked into PHD, EQMOD and webcams etc with my HEQ5, but never got any further.

Is it as 'simple' as just attaching an autoguider to the main scope, plugging it straight into the port on the mount, and away it goes, or does it have to go through a PC as I'm sure it does with the ASCOM software?

Sorry if it's a silly question!

Hello Erik,

I use a non goto G11, Its a good mount to autoguide as the errors are very smooth and easily corrected by the autoguider. To advise you it will depend on what you are going to use as an autoguider. there are autoguider out there that dont require a PC, web cams etc you will need a PC for guiding, whats your options ?

Well, I would rather use an autoguider that doesn't require a PC. I'd like to keep everything as simple as possible, I guess it might mean spending a bit more money, but that's ok.
