2" or 1.25" Barlow if I already have 2" to 1.25" converter?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

I'm planing to buy a Barlow lens and was wondering what Barlow do I need to buy - a 2" or 1.25" - for my 'scope, or - can I buy any version I like.

I have a SkyWatcher 250/1200 telescope which comes with a 2" Crayford focuser but also includes a 2" to 1.25" adaptor which I use for some of my eyepieces and to which I also attach my DSLR via a T-Ring. Here's two pictures:

Am I correct to imagine there are two ways to use two versions of Barlow to take pictures with my setup?

1) 2" focuser > 2" Barlow lens > my 2" to 1.25" adaptor > T-Ring > camera

2) 2" focuser > my 2" to 1.25" adaptor > 1.25" Barlow > T-Ring > camera

1.25" Barlows come cheaper but wouldn't I need another adaptor to join the Barlow with a T-Ring? :)
