And another big prominence on the sun!

Today another big prominence was visible on the sun. It was part of a row of pretty large prominences, but I decided to choose this one (the largest) to draw. I used a 6mm eyepiece for a magnification of 116x and made the sketch between 10.15h and 10.30h UT. Sketching prominences means drawing quickly, because even in this 15 minutes the prom changed shape. I would like to sketch longer and in more detail, but that's simply impossible. On the other hand, those quick movements are exactly what make solar observing so rewarding.

Scope: 70mm f/10 h-alpha solar telescope

Media: graphite on white paper (later inverted and colored in Photoshop)

Location: Deventer, the Netherlands
