dew shield - why

I have a Schmidt Newtonian, this is an Newtonian Scope with a correction plate, dew an stray light have always been a problem for me, after buying a dew cover I found after a while the dew would eventually get on the correction plate, so out came the wife's hair dryer, but at 2 and 3 in the morning I didn't fancy the wrath of my neighbours, so I invested in dew straps which heat the correction plate just enough to stop dew forming, I still use the dew cover though, keeps the stray light out.

Thanks for all your postings for this thread it's helped me a lot already. For anyone looking in, Will a flextube be more in need of a dew shield than normally is the case?
