Well, just past Burley, going towards Lymington is a place called Setthorns. At night it seems to be really quite clear, but I've never had the opportunity to go out and gaze.

I do know however that at Swanage - at Durlston (Durlston - Home) is one of the best places inthe whole wide world. Well.. maybe not but we went out at the peak of the Perseids with the Wessex Astronomical Society. It's open to non members, and theres a small cover fee at their events. It's brilliant! The sky there is stunning and dark - I've never seen the Milky Way so clearly as that night. And thats with growing up in Rural America! Truly a brilliant place to be if anyone can make it to one of their events.
