Astra Image plug-in for Photoshop.

Recommended Posts

I tried this on the recommendation of Peter Shah so I expected it to be good, and it is. Thanks, Peter.

I have a number of programmes offering deconvolution but I can never get a grain of sense out of any of them. I have now had very positive results using the Astra Image version, though. Handy sliders and a preview window allow you to adjust the parameters and number of iterations, which I find need to be between four and six - though I'm still experimenting. On a whole-image scale most of what decovolution does is disastrous but on areas of fine detail it is spectacular so, as usual, a layer is needed to retain only fragments of the modified image.

There is also a wavelets routine which works well, though I am very wary of keeping more than fragments of the modified image.

I can't believe there is much more to be had out of these galaxy cores in a 5.5 inch telescope and the last precious drops of detail are down to Astra Image.
