Vallis Schroteri

For the last few months I've been viewing the entire moon disc at 80x in a largely futile effort at learning lunar geography. On saturday night I decided to take a closer look so I upped the mag to 220x and browsed around. There was a large crater on the terminator - at first I did not realise it was Aristarchus because it was not as bright as usual. With lack of glare from the crater and the low angle of the sun I could see Schroter's Valley perfectly. I could see one wall shining in the sun and the opposite wall in black shadow. The walls are only 10km apart so I'm impressed by the resolving power of my telescope!
