Very nice, what kind of equipment was used?

Great capture! You captured some very delicate details.

This is a very cool picture, always interesting going for the ultra faint stuff!

This is a very nice image and object! Never seen it before... What is the image scale of your system ?

Hi Pieter, I've been waiting for this to appear because, like you, I don't think much of the 8nm one I now have. At this price I think I'll risk it. Thanks for pointing out that it's available!

Hi Olly, Sounds like you owe me a beer for this great tip. ? I'll also go for it, I can tweak my imaging train to fit the 1,25" version in. Want to get into the faint planetary nebulae, guess I'll find out what it's worth pretty soon.

Triangular shaped stars are often caused by pinched optics. Is your primary mirror still properly supported?

Hi,
Does anyone have any first hand experience with this filter?

Curious to know how it compares to the 8,5 nm filter which I owned in the past and was not very impressed with. I am considering this as an alternative for the 5nm Astrodon o3.
Thanks,
Pieter

Hello Heine,
If you want to have trouble free mount, I fully recommend the Mesu 200 mount. Backlash & gear tuning are a non-issue, simply because there are none in the Mesu frictiondrive. The build quality totally surpasses an EQ8, you will pay more for the Mesu, but it is a mount you will own for a very long time. The engineer of the mount is also very approachable and helpfull (in my case just a 2 hours drive away).
Like Olly says, I have it on a Berlebach Planet tripod, this is their flagship tripod model. This tripod is very well made from beautiful ash tree wood, which dampens vibrations very well. The tripod can carry 100 kg of payload. It can be ordered with a specific adapter for the most common mounts.

I have owned many mounts like: Vixen gp-dx, Losmandy gm-8 (biggest piece of crap ever), Takahashi EM-200. The Mesu blows them all away.
Best regards,
Pieter

Landmark piece of astrophotography! This result blows away all Orion widefields out there.
Congratulations Olly & Tom!

Epic piece of work! You surely have your astrograph working to the fullest potential!
Just out of curiosity: Can you see any variance in the brightness of Hubble's V1 Cepheid, since the image was stretched over several months?
Again, great work.

Awesome shot Olly! How did you combine the HA? Just used it as luminance or did you mix it with red?

Pieter

Hi all,
Some feedback on the Baader 4,5 nm O3 filter; I like it a lot! It is a very nice match to my Astrodon 5nm h-alpha filter. The stars are very similar in shape and size, which will allow me to make some nice bi-colour images. If I may give one small point of criticism; there are again some halos noticeable (remember the old 8,5nm O3 filter) around very bright stars. It could be something else in my imaging train, not 100% sure yet... But overall I am happy with this purchase. It will be a return for me to colour imaging after shooting b&w for a long time.
Here is the first light; a quick and dirty bicolour on NGC7000. Scope was my 10" newton, exposure was 2 hours in HA and 2 hours in O3. Colours mixed as HA:O3:O3.
Thanks,
Regards,
Pieter
