  1. Hello, welcome John, curious from where do you observe?  Living in Northern California, the weather has to be nicer in England?

I observe because it makes me think as to how small planet Earth

Hello, thank you, yes Call Sagan put us in the right  very small place.

I am in contemplative mood so I can  relish incredible beautiful vistas through my scope..

  3. Welcome Eliin, everyone here is very nice and very helpful.
This forum is turning very international, but fortunately with a very distinct British accent.
My self French, but went for other horizons.!
Don't hesitate to ask questions, Your sky is excellent for observing.
Speaking from experience having visited neighboring countries very recently.

My concern is - will HMRC whack me for taxes?  the handpad is a $1000 item so it would attract a $200 tax if ever.  Anyone have any experience with AP gear sent to the US for repair?

Hello, no VAT and no taxes on labour.
Taxes vary from state to states. But if it is under warranty there should not be any taxes.

  5. Hello, Mr Spoke, so sorry about your visual acuity, exercise would help with diabetes?

Unfortunately I suffer from dry AMD, nothing can be done so far, don't smoke, not overweight I exercise vigorously but I found out that I have one of the two gene!  Can"t drive, read or ride bicycle on my own, etc, Blind? no, but very motivated to keep observing the sky as I can see using "averted visional."

Keep strong, make sure not to get depressed, make sure people close to you know of your health situation to keep a close eye on your moods. (no pun intended.) Loosing one's eye sight or partial is not for sissy . Depression is very silent hard to detect and share.

    Unfortunately, speaking  from experience.

  6. Hello, no street lights here but plenty of garden and porche lights every which ways. If I had to deal with street lights I would use my BB gun! Unfortunately I live between 2 large cities! So the best remedy is a black sheet!

My very nice neighbor has a light fetishism, he lights up from underneath some of his trees, it is very pretty but. . . ;- )
