  1. I got tired of waiting for the base to be in stock and decided to make my own. I think my will last a lot longer because it's not made of press or particle board. I used 3/4" sanded plywood. I've attached a picture of the final product. I took pictures all through the process for anyone that wants to see. Plus, I have dimensions. My Apertura 8 had the side brackets and I kept the base bearing and center knob from the old base. Ended up about the same price as purchasing a new particle board base? Now, hopefully it's not cloudy.
  2. I've had my AD8 for at least 5 years and the original base, which was made from particle board finally fell apart. I had been repairing it for the past 2 years. Partially my fault for leaving it outside on the back patio. Needless to say I still need one. I figure if I had the dimensions of the base I could make one that will last a lot longer. I tried buying one but they are on back order and who knows when they'll get them in. Width and height of the sides would be helpfull as well as the brace piece. I kept the bearing plate pieces in the hopes I get around to making one. I know you're thinking why didn't I measure the one I had. Well, I tossed it thinking I would be able to just purchase a new one. Any help appreciated. Chuck in Arizona
