  1. I got lucky. I am surprised I could hold still as excited as I was about how amazing the images in the eyepiece are. Huge difference between my 114 x 900 Galileo and the xt8.
  2. Thank you. You didn't see how many was trash caned.
  3. I upgraded yesterday to a used Orion skyquest xt8 from a 114 x 900 Galileo. So was out playing and took these pictures freehand with my cellphone. I ordered a cellphone lens holder. My dream and goal is after I get really comfortable with my scope I am going to try and located every feature on the surface of the moon.
  4. WOW. What a sky opener. Got the XT8 home and had a couple minutes to play. Jupiter and Saturn have never looked so good to my eyes. Sorry for picture. Was taken holding cell to lens.
  5. Wednesday afternoon I am going to go and upgrade myself with a new, bigger and better telescope. Found a hardly used Orion skyquest xt8. Many extras including 2X Barlow lens, p l o s s l 12.5 m m, p l o s s l 25 mm, University Optics UW 80-degree 16 mm fully multi-coated, University Optics 7 mm multi-coated,. .5x focal reducer, polarizing Moon filter, lens pens, red LED light, and locking hard case. I have been kinda searching and tossing between buying new or finding a good used. I found this and price is beautiful. I can not wait. I am like a kid in a candy store with excitement. My grandson is really loving seeing the moon and saturn through the 114 by 900 Galileo. He will really be pleased this coming weekend when pappy gets out the new baby. I know over then next couple months I want t ok get a few things for the scope. A Telrad, I'm thinking of a 2 inch 32mm eyepiece for a wide view of the sky. I do want to get filters but not sure which direction or what. Thanks everyone for all the information and post.
  6. Greetings, Thank you for allowing me to join this forum and second for reading my question.I'm 54 and all my life have held a interest in space. Now since i am disabled i find myself looking to the stars more with greater interest. My Girlfriend has a huge interest in the planets. I would also like to get my 5 year old Grandson interested. I've never owned a telescope or even really used one much. So, I've flooded my mind and eyes with lots of internet reading. Big mistake. We are looking to buy a used telescope to "test the waters" I don't want to shell out hundreds of dollars to only have it sitting in the corner as a coat holder so to speak. This brings me to my question. We found a Galileo G45LTME. Not a scratch on it with all original packages and manuals. I can not find much on the internet about this telescope. I know each person has different views on equipment, i dealt with that for most of my working life as a boiler operator and repair. So, can you folks provide me with your help? Last thing i want to do is buy a telescope set it up to find the optics are junk and you can only use it for a few minutes till its overworked but also don't want to dump huge moneys till I'm positive the "bug bite me hard". Thanks again.
