FIRMWARE UPDATE FAILURE WITH THE SKY-WATCHER AZ-GTI MOUNT I just received a NEW AZ-GTI mount yesterday (10/14/20) and it worked out of the box with the SynScan app in IOS and on Android . It also connected and worked with SkySafari Plus on an iPad in IOS. Then I did what any good geek astronomer would do and I tried to update the firmware. It failed and suggested that I power off the mount and try again. I tried other firmware updates which failed and finally gave up. This song and dance has been echoed in other topics on this forum. The failed update changed the SSID name to just SynScan. I can connect to the mount's WIFI but the app does not recognize any device. Now the mount LED signal is flashing three times which means its stuck in update mode and there is no way to reset it. I have read in these forums that others have resolved the issue by using a SynScan WIFI dongle but that should not be the solution. I'm waiting to hear from Sky-Watcher but I just sent them an email to describe what I have shared with you. I was hopeful that I would get a working mount that would update without issue but that is not the case. I blame myself for not heeding the complaints on forums about this mount. The documentation on this product from Sky-Watcher is sparse at best but insufficient or lacking on proper procedures. I am also at a loss to understand how a company can ship a product that cannot do a simple WIFI firmware update. Celestron or Meade are no exception in this department. It simply amazes me. I'll try to follow-up on my post here to let others know how I have dealt with this. We should not have this type of experience considering the money these companies extract from us. I'm just extremely disappointed. Sorry for the rant.
