It certainly was unusual...the bright orange flash was very quick...blink and you would miss it.. it did fade as it moved very slowly eastwards. Like i say, it only moved a small distance over 15 mins...then i couldn't find it again.

That would explain the very slow movement... Cheers fellas... 😃

Thats an interesting possibility 🤔 Hmmm but can a satellite be moving that slowly? Over the 15 mins i observed it it only moved east about the distance of Orions belt.

It was late in the night, over 7hrs after sunset. For a balloon to reflect sunlight it would need to be still in sunlight? Wouldn't the late night and Southern aspect have the earth shadow preventing reflection? But thanks for the reply.. Could it be space debris but far out tumbling in space?

Last night around 11.15pm i decided to take a look at M42 through my 10x50 bins on a monopod.. Within seconds there was a bright orange flash just above the top of the sword. WOW...was it an iridium flare? It only lasted a moment....then about 15 secs it flashed again...it had moved east very slightly...this continued for about 15 minutes. Every 25-30 secs was this bright flash. Over the 15 minutes it only moved about the same distance as the 3 stars of Orions belt. I went to get my partner but couldn't find it again. The bright flash was thru the bins but i doubt it could be seen naked eye. Has anyone any idea what it could be? Even though we had a gibbous moon, the seeing was superb indeed!

Well....Uranus is in the bag tonight.. using Aries and Cetus i star hopped and found it. Full moon tonight but nice and clear so wasnt too hard to find. You could make out the bluey green hue too. Also took a look at the Andromeda Galaxy and the double Alberio? In Cygnus. These binos are addictive

The Bins are always at hand and like you say, the weather is hit and miss. Uranus on the hit list

I dont think it was skill, more beginners luck 😃 I went out later, around 10,45pm as the moon was still up, and found it again..using the star hopping from earlier. Binoculars are easy to sweep around with wide field of view. Ive not got a scope as of yet but can imagine its a little more tricky to find very dim objects? My Son has a 150 heritage sat in its packaging (xmas pressie for his stepdaughter) sat right next to the window that i was looking out of! Uranus is my next challenge, that will be all the planets done for me 😊 I found Andromeda a while back just star hopping and intend to give this another longer look.

I was out tonight watching the ISS appearing near Saturn and Jupiter about 6,55pm 22nd Nov. Anyway, it disappeared quickly into the shadow well before getting to where the moon is sitting. So, i was looking at the moon with my 10x50s ....lovely indeed. I opened Stellarium on my phone and realised that Neptune was close to the Moon about quarter of the way to Mars on the left. Using star hopping thru Aquarius i eventually found it!!! Needed averted vision thru the binos but i could definitely see it! My first ever time. What a buzz, 5 planets in 15 mins...and Neptune!! Uranus is my next mission.. Can ya tell im excited lol

Thanks great info 👍 The D3 has quite a high specced intervalometer but defo i think ya right...the separate cable one is the way to go. Can you set 3min exposures on yours?

Last night, after much deliberation i ordered a Skywatcher Star Adventurer Pro pack from FLO. I thought before i jump in too deep and buy a full on Astro Rig (ive only a pair of 10x50 bins atm) that i could utilise my camera gear which consists of: Nikon D3 ff body Nikon 24-70 ed afs f2,8 nano Nikon 70-200 ed afs f2,8 VR2 Nikon 50 f1,4 afs Nikon 16 f2,8 D linear fisheye And some bits n bobs. The D3 has a built in intervalometer, but i think its going to be a lot easier with a wired unit. Can anyone recommend a cheapish simple model please? We have a pretty good rear South facing garden so plenty to see already through the binos. And now i fancy the astro route after taking a few shots of Neowise on my Camera and tripod. Thanks!! Upto now ive found M11 M22 Lagoon and Triffid... had a look at Perseus...WOW! Moons of jupiter..can just make out shape of Saturns rings. M31 is on my bucket list 😊... ive taken some images with my Nikon D3 on a tripod...my first AP but dont know how to upload?

Its dimmed noticeably over a couple of nights i think. Its getting higher in the sky too. Last night (sunday 19th July) i could just make it with naked eye, but ive now got a pretty good idea where to look via Stellarium. Ive mounted my bins on a tripod now and can sit with the window open and just take in the view...wonderful indeed! Im absolutely amazed how much ive seen already with my 10x50s.. the area around Sagittarius is astounding!

Im a total noob and put stellarium on my samsung S10 Found Neowise pretty easily using Capella as a starting point

What a fantastic couple of hours last night. Found Neowise again with naked eye.. using Capella as a guide. Ive got my 10x50s on a monpod, and what a wonderful sight is this comet.. showed the wife again...WOW. i said the last time this comet was here, the pyramids were getting built.. 😲. Then i went to the back room facing South to see the two massive planets.. only three moons tonight for me.. Saw Isis pass twice... 2 iridium flares too. Then moved right of Jupiter and found my 2nd fuzzy ever...M22.. then i was taken back just right and down a tad, Sagittarius and after checking stellarium id found NGC 6553 and NGC6530😮😮😮. Absolutely amazing! So so many stars and i could see faint nebulous features? One of these structures is 6800 light years away, it then dawned on me the light i was seeing set off around the same time Neowise was last here! All with my humble binos.. i still amazed. Ill definitely be getting a scope very soon. Clear skies!! Please more of the same 😀

Spent 30 mins sat looking out of North facing front bedroom using Stellarium android looking for the comet. At 10,20 it was still too light, but around 10,30ish i spotted Capella... Looked to the left and up a bit...not very tech lol.... then i found Neowise with my 10x50 bins...WOW... It was in and out of the light cloud cover, but when the cloud cleared i could judt make it out naked eye.. My parther was in the other bedroom...i ran in like a kid on crimbo morning . She got up and came for a look.... WzoW! I can see it she said! So so glad id bought the binos...🙂🙂🙂😄 I looked out the rear bedroom and theres jupiter!!
