  1. I have an 8in celestron. The lowest I would go is my televue 8mm. Jupiter and Saturn are in not good positions so alot of atmospheric turbulence.  I would recommend you get good eyepieces like explore scientific 82 line and televue delos for that scope.  You will hear its f10 and all that dont need to buy the best.  But using that logic fs you when you get your nice new next telescope.  I was gonna get the same scope you got a great scope but I went and spent the rent on the edge 8 HD and an avx mount.  So mine being an f10 I didn't go cheap on eyepieces. I have 3 televue delos an an es 14mm 100 degree plus the 40 plossl it came with.  That 40 isn't much use. But If I got cheaper eypieces ik would have had to buy all new eyepieces since I'm mounting an es 80ed f100 on top of it

  2. Last night I installed the feather touch micro focus on my Celestron edge hd 8. Once I had it on I pushed the focuser forward so the plate was flush again so I could screw it back on from the stock focuser It pushed forward smooth but I  don't think I was supposed to push that in now my focuser  seems like gets off when I'm turning it to get into focus it pops it jerks across the view I can get a focus to come in it doesn't seem like my focus is that great at all now I don't know what should do. So I can focus but it jerks like tension built up and pops back and my focus is ....only ok. I was thinking put the stock focuser back on to try to restore it and then install the micro touch again. I'm so stupid.  Help

  3. i have a 8 edge hd and i got a es ed80 to mount on top.  i know to put a vixen dovetail on it on top like the one on bottom but what do i use to connect a vixen mount to a vixen mount?  im really struggling with this.  i dont want rings cuz of the look but there has to be a way to keep it with a clean look i mean it mounts to a mount right?  please help

  4. I have 8 edge HD and ordered 80mm es ed to mount on top. I was gonna get the delos 17.3. But then the es 82 18 is 2in.  Then the ethos 17 I want the delos but I feel like I wouldn't be able to fit smaller dso in it.  Also I was gonna get the 31mm nagler because of its rep.  I might get into imaging like live but for now I'm a visual kinda guy.  I have a 10mm delos a 14mm es100 and a 40mm plossl that came with the edge.  Here's my rig.

  5. im by no means a pro here, im a newbie who does alot or research and asks alot of questions..  my first telescope as an adult was gonna be the Celestron Nexstar 8se   that make a 6 in version, but id get the 8.  i went a little higher in price to the edge hd but they have the same goto system.  man its a good time i love my scope, you should take a look at the 8se  its got a good price.

If you can see the Milky Way you will easily see spiral arms in M51 and possibly M101 if yiou are dark adapted. I'm up north of you in NW Ontario and find the eyepiece selection is crucial for seeing galaxies and nebula. The f10 Edge 8" will need something like a 42mm eyepiece to work properly with the excellent new Astronomik OIII or the Televue version of it, which is my preferred OIII.

You are right on the money with the 31mm eyepiece for seeing galaxies in your scope, with a bit higher mag being good at times as well.

The thing is- if skies are not dark seeing these objects will be unrewarding and difficult. Can you see the Milky Way and if so the southern large split in it?

yes i can see the milky way streaming accross the sky but i never paid any attention to it to notice a southern split  i have to get away from the city to do that but thats a 20 min drive to darkness  and thanks for pointing out televue as filter  i go with them however i just bought a 14mm es100

  7. i wanna be able to see galaxies and like the swirling arms. nebula and thier cloudy like structures.  what do i need to be able to do that.  i have an edge hd 8 and soon a 80mm es ed80   ill get whatever filter and eyepiece whatever the cost it dont matter.  i was looking at an astronomik 0III filter and a nagler 31mm.   but im only visual for now.  some of those views are breathtaking.  what do i need to get those?
