  1. Hi, I am a newbie to astrophotography. I have a DSLR, and had done a few night sky shots, and decided to take advantage of a post Christmas sales and purchased a Sky-Watcher Tracker. Left the house at 2:45am last Saturday in search of the Quadrantid Meteor showers. I was quite disappointed as I was expecting approximately 20-60 per hour. From my vantage point I only saw 8 in a 2 1/2 hour period, and half of those were either out of my camera's field of view, or while I was setting up. I did however manage to catch a few and made my first attempt with photo stacking and blending. I really struggled with the foreground, but did learn a lot about PS, so as an exercise, however poorly the end product turned out, it was a worthwhile venture. I am looking forward to the coming year to try a few more astrophotography shoots.
