  1. Does anyone have the latest update in regard to vixen producing their telescope mounts? It has been over two years since I have seen any of their mounts available on the marketplace.
  2. Thanks for that info. I am not limited to the SW brand.
  3. I am interested in purchasing this from FLO but have a number of questions It says the load capacity is only 3 kgs. I have two scopes both weighing 6.5 lbs including rings but without finder (RACI), diagonal and eyepiece (7 oz) The scopes are 80ED f/7 and 90mm Achromat f/5. Only visual use. Viewing magnifications will principally be between 25X to160X I am seeking a mount/tripod with limited vibration, and in this regard the tall riser on the Pronto worries me.
  4. Rob, sadly the AZ4 is not sold in the USA. Even the Orion version is not available
  5. Thanks but sadly it also requires a tripod so the total cost of that mount and a tripod would exceed the cost of my two scopes..๐Ÿ™
  6. I am looking at a lightweight alt-az mount for my 90mm f/5 Achro and 80ED f/7 scopes. They weigh around 6.5 lbs with rings. I plan to use the mount primarily for DSO at 100X magnification max. I know the Orion has slo mo controls but the Nano has steel legs. There really are no other options in this area. I also looked at the SW Pronto as well but the price is double and its load capacity is 3 kg. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. thanks
  7. Should it be a mirror diagonal or a prism diagonal and why? Ditto for a refractor. Thanks
  8. This is their first entry into this market. The SV229 complete line of Solar Filters feature renowned Thousand Oaks Optical film in a sturdy, clear-anodized aluminum Cap that are ISO 12312-2:2015 Standard compliant. The price is $30 but they are not yet available at svbony.com or Amazon.
  9. the way they designed the cradle for the DX makes it impossible to affix to a scope. It must be somehow put on a cradle connector (similar to the one on the existing mount) And there needs to be a way to affix a cradle connector to the mount. I was contemplating putting it on a Twilight 1. But it looks like a dead deal.
  10. where the twist lock is located there are three holes on the unit. The three screws go into the plastic as shown The three holes are quite marginal to work with.
  11. Well the scope finally had its first light and to be perfectly honest, I was quite surprised by its optics. Much surprised. A little green tinge CA on the moon at 142X. Nothing at all like that I thought it would be. In fact with some eyepieces there was a very light CA on the fringe. Looked at Jupiter low on the horizon at 72X .. Could see three bands Views of Pleiades were great. Almost got everything in view at 26X I did not view beyond 142X. Other stars were quite clear. I think the fine focus really helped. The eyepieces I used were 3 Celestron X-CEL LX : 7mm, 9mm and 18mm and an old Meade 26mm super plossl
  12. Thanks for your reply. I do not wish to sell the cradle but install it on another scope or mount The DL cradle is simple. You just need a finder like 3d block to affix the cradle to and put it in the finder shoe. It just has screws attached to the optical tube. The DX is a whole different ballgame. I guess you are not familiar with this baby. It can only be affixed to a mount. It looks like you can only affix the cradle with screws to a mount somehow as the bottom portion of the cradle is one piece of plastic. Here are 360 degree photos of the cradle top / side/ bottom / other side
  13. Much has been written about 3D options for affixing the starsense cradles on their DL product line to other telescopes. But I have not seen anything for affixing the cradle from a DX unit to either a telescope or a mount. Are there any options around? Here are photos of the DL vs DX cradles. The latter is the DX
  14. totally agree re the auto two star align
  15. The manual has a number of options whereby you get your mount aligned before use. SkyAlign Auto Two-Star Align Two-Star Alignment One-Star Align Solar System Align Which one do you prefer and why? Thanks
  16. I had one of those as well but it did not make the top 4...๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  17. Here it is NUMBER ONE I purchased from Amazon a purportedly brand new Svbony telescope. Here is what I got. Need I say more. I got my money back plus the scope
  18. Ed is a super fellow. and honest in his reviews. I found out about the 8 vs 10 dob when I watched his video on the Celestron Starsense 10" dob
  19. My gosh yes, all the bird-jones scopes and sadly Celestron is notorious for continuing to sell them.
  20. Are you referring to a review of Amazon or scopes? I just do not go by reviews on Amazon. When you are the first to get a new product there is no review. You base your decision on prior products the company makes. The price I got was about 35% under retail. and a full refund. Again nothing to lose.
