  1. Hi, Thanks for the reply, whats your take on the Nexstar se 6 in over all comparison?
  2. Hi Guys Sorry, questions like this probably been asked a million times. But at these prices I cant get it wrong, I currently have a Heritage 130p, looking for an upgrade, settled on these two, i've researched as much as I can on both, the DOB being big and bulky is no issue for me. I love the look of the Nexstars but they are more pricey. Its the more technical side like GOTO software that I'm not sure of or dont really understand, like reliability, quality ect. What I'm really looking for is a good 'All rounder'' DSO AND planets. The Nexstar 8'' is out of my budget by the way. Just cant make my mind up, i lean first to the DOB then to the se 6! Many Thanks for reading, any info much appreciated.
  3. Hi, This is a great post, very informative, its also very interesting that you carry the 200 fully assembled, that would be my idea too. Thanks.
  4. Thanks for the replies Fella's. I was VERY close to buying the Skywatcher 200 Dob, again, just the shear bulk size put me off...And when I showed the Home Secretary she said..'Where are you gonna put that'!!!...I had Two answers for her in mind put keep my lips sealed! She hasn't actually looked through my Heritage yet, so im hoping once she does, size wont matter! and she too will be hooked, that's when I bag the 200...Up here for thinking...Down here for dancing!
  5. Hi Guys I have recently got the above along with 3 BST Starguider EP's and a x2 Barlow upgrade. Absolutely love it! so fascinating. My Teenage Son also loves it and is very interested, I want to get him a scope for his up coming Birthday. I understand now that Aperture is everything, more light the better. What would be an upgrade from the great scope I already have? Problem is, as much as I like the Dobsonian for its convenience, I see the Skywatcher 150 and 200 are massively bulk and heavy, is there any alternatives? I'm open to any suggestions, I will say I would prefer something without any motors, fully manual operation. Interested in Deep space objects and planets. Many Thanks Guys.
  6. Hey Guys, Just ordered the Heritage 130P, BST Starguider 8mm, 15mm, and 25mm...over the Moon! Pardon the pun!
  7. Andy, those pictures are incredible!!😮 I'm itching to get the 130P...feeling like a exited kid!....So fascinating and beautiful. Thank you, I cant wait!
  8. Brilliant! Thank you, with your suggestion, that would give me an awesome range including the 25mm sent with the scope, funny because I never considered anything about 25 mm.
  9. Thank you Bright Giant, very helpful indeed. Does anyone think it would be worth replacing the 25mm that comes with the Heritage with a 25mm BST?
  10. Great. One silly last question, sorry Andy...Whats a dovetail?
  11. Ok Thanks mate...big learning curve...love it thought!
  12. Thanks Andy, I have the bug too my friend!😁😁 Playing my Guitar and my waiting for my new scope and kit I'm gonna be a busy Boy!......My poor Mrs...😀😀😀😀😀😁
  13. Hey Andy, I've also gone with your Barlow and your Starguider laser, just spotted the on Ebay, cheers mate, bit cheaper than the ones I was going to get so all good! I'll now look for that great little flight case!
  14. Hey Andy, Thanks for your brilliant info and great pictures! Its funny you mention how good the 25mm is that actually comes with the scope, as time and time again I have read people saying the same, only they also say the 10mm is not good at all. There's a Guy on Youtube showing how he flocked the open tube with Two A3 size black crafting foam, which is 2mm thick and actually slides shut perfectly with it fitted on the inside, secured with small black Velcro tabs, he also put ptfe tape on the focusing threads and eliminated any play. You have also done a great job with the tripod. But more importantly for me, where did you find that lovely little EP box??? I've been looking everywhere for some thing suitable..... Thanks again for this great post!
  15. Hi Craig, Thank you so much for your input, much appreciated. Still trying to figure out certain aspects of the scope itself, finding it a little confusing. When you say pushing the limits of the scope, do you mean putting a 5mm EP in the Barlow? Is the BST short barlow ok too?
  16. Hi Guys Totally new to this great Hobby. I have decided to buy the above scope, after some research for better EP's its between BST Starguider or Celeston Omni, but starting to lean towards BST, BST I notice are more expensive, probably with good reason? Anyone have any thoughts or experience of the Two please? I think its a bit of a strange situation because as good as the 130P is, it doesn't cost a fortune, so like wise I don't want to go to mad with very expensive EP's, but that said i'd like good quality to compliment it. If I went with the BST, what would be a good size selection, i'd probably buy Three, also, would a Barlow be necessary? If so any suggestions. Lastly, what Collimator would you suggest? Many Thanks
