So this was not a planet?

Pretty darn good.

You still got some good data on the galaxy.

Striking image.

This is a great sight.

Nicely done.

I love this galaxy, and you've done it proud.

M81 looks especially good here.

Modded Canon T6i at 800i with IDAS LPS D1
60x60s, 60ea of dark, flat, bias from DSS to PS

Thanks, Carol, I was hoping you'd see it, otherwise I would have continued our thread briefly in another day or two to show it to you. I'm still working on those flats, as you can see, though this suffers from more than that. It's been a good first test subject for long exposure, however.
I've managed a pretty decent M13 which I'm posting in Imaging-DSO as well as my album in a few minutes, and my flats are much better I think, and so is my focus with the DSLR (still waiting for the Bahtinov mask to arrive).

Very nice.

A beauty.

Really nice, lots of detail.

A good image with solid contrast. I've only managed a few images thus far but I'm looking forward to the Horsehead and Flame challenge!

Progress is a Wonderful Thing.
A clear evening! finally allowed me to put to the test advice given out graciously here at SGL concerning my PHD2 guiding issues, and all seems now to be under control for the first time!
I collected 51x180s sub, 15dark, 15flat and 2bias images at 1600iso from M45 that I may share at a later date, but which more importantly was good data.
To finish off the night I gathered 7x180s subs of M42 at iso1600, which you see here composed with 5dark, 5flat and 2bias images. I'd heard that this nebula was a good starter target but I don't see much of it for long. The detail surprised me for the 21m ttl. I messed with it in DeepSkyStacker and a generic photo editor for contrast, as still I wait for PhotoshopCC.
This is my first crack at M42, only my fourth target overall (M31, M33, M45,) and the second to be guided efficiently following the M45 session. It was more of an afterthought to end the evening, which accounts for the framing, so I'm quite pleased with it. I'm looking forward to some serious time with M42, but it willl take a road trip to get the data.

Very nice. Reminds me of gazing through my dob.

Wonderfully done.

Such a beautiful image.

So much to look at!

I'm glad I came back to your Deep SkyIII album, as your work is so interesting, this being another primo example!
-
Stunning detail here. So cool!
-
I realy like what you've done here.

Fantastic image. Since I have you here, that dark nebula in the upper left quadrant on one knee with his (it looks male) arms raised, would that be Ptolemy?

I love this!
