Re the 'disable the steppers' and moving the feeder!

It's my understanding that you can quickly fry your motherboard moving the x,y or z axes while the steppers are disabled as they can generate current apparently🤷‍♂️. +1 for the Ender3 v2 excellent printer 👍.

I guess it depends on the motherboard you have, I think some of the more expensive ones have pretty good protection.
I have lit my LCD display up several times moving axes too fast by hand without any issue but I would not recommend doing it.
Sometimes it is necessary to move axes by hand when setting things up but it should be done slowly and only when necessary.

There are people experimenting with recycling waste PLA back into a usable form and I think even a few machines on the market that claim to do so, but I don't think you get back something as good as you started with.  At least, that seemed to be the situation last time I looked.

I would agree with this statement.
I have bought a few rels of RPLA (recycled PLA or Reflowed PLA - I think the same thing) and whilst they quote it is as food as {LA, it isn't, well the half dozen rolls I have tried are not.
They print but I had far more print failures and the ones that did not fail were quite bumpy and zitty.
Maybe if I took more time to tweak the parameters it would help but it just did not seem to extrude with any consistency.

Well, their existing range are supposed to be halo free...

The first OIII (8.5nm) I had was terrible for halos. Credit to FLO and Baader though, I sent it back after 8 months of trying different spacing, optics, orientation etc and the like for like replacement was perfect, no halos at all. Luck of the draw with batches I guess.

There were many threads about halos on the non ultra NB/s and especially the OIII.
I haven't noticed too many issues with my Ultra NB's from Baader but since getting them they have not had too much action due to lack of clear nights last year.
But obviously if I were in the market for them now I would have gone for these new versions, assuming the price is not ridiculous.

    Great noise it makes

I did once manage to coincide the families holiday in Florida with a shuttle launch and saw that and yes the nosise is the thing that sticks in my mind 🙂

  5. Sound advice above.

You don't say if you already have the DSLR and small frac already or whether they are part of the budget.
For a budget around £500 if you do not have the frac then I would be tempted to forget the scope and just use a mount similar to the suggestions from @Snoani with a DSLR and DSLR lens and start with some great widefield stuff.

I now have some great AP gear but it is heavy and thinking of of going this route as a widefield setup and for something to easily throw in the car and get out to some dark skies for an hour or two, or to fit in when we go on one of our cottage holidays and then I can still fit the wife and dog in the car 🤣.

    THIS  may be of use.

Apologies in advance to those residing in the Essex area for the hideous weather that I have just summoned

Nice toy, and no worries for me I don't see why Yorkshire should have all the clouds 🙂

  7. Yes same laptop.
What software are you using for data acquisition ?
Many programs will actually talk to PHD2 and start and stop the guiding automatically so in that case needs to be on the same computer.

  8. RVO also sell the Celestron 13.2Ah Powertank  slightly cheaper at £238, FLO will probably price match it.

Also there are tracer batteries many people use like THIS , the one here is slightly less power at 10 Ahr but is cheaper, also can get these elsewhere with a similar capacity and still cheaper than the Celestron  like THIS and you may get them cheaper if you search about. Not sure about the connections though so they may take some messing with to get you connected.
Unfortunately these batteries just are not cheap and to be honest would be a bit wary of any that are cheap on Ebay or even Amazon.
