Hi All, Me and the Wifey-to-be took a trip to The Spaceguard Centre in Powys over the weekend. For those that have never heard of it, The Spaceguard Centre is the National Near Earth Objects Information Centre (NNEOIC). With Jonathan R. Tate as its Director, it is the only organisation in the UK dedicated to addressing the hazard of Near Earth Objects. Jay does three tours around the centre each day, taking about 90 mins with plenty of time to ask questions while you go round. As it's only about 30 mins from where I live, I've (possibly stupidly! ) volunteered some of my time and IT skills for if and when they ever need them They are trying to get the biggest telescope in Wales installed at the minute, but they are really strapped for cash as the only funding they have is from visitors and donations. I'd heartily recommend a visit if you are ever in the area! The chance to (possibly!) learn new stuff and help with something that could save the world!!!
