Sky-Watcher Skyliner 200p Dobsonian Telescope. Eyepieces that came with the scope (10mm & superwide 20mm I think) Variable Polarizing Moon Filter. (1.25) Celestron 2x Barlow. Home made Collimation Cap. QHY5L-II-C Planetary Camera. All items are as good as new. A few tiny scuffs on the base but optics & everything else is perfect. Still have original boxing etc. 2 pieces of velcro attached to the OT. This was to attach my phone in conjunction with an app. If sale is made on this site I'll throw in the Turn Left At Orion book for free. £400 for the lot, don'

First attempts at Saturn 23/05/16
DOBGUYNORTHWEST replied to DOBGUYNORTHWEST's topic in Imaging - Planetary
Thanks! I can't wait to purchase a higher quality barlow & for my EQ platform to arrive next month, hopefully I'll get much better results. Saturn is a sight & a half to see through the eyepiece, I love it! -

My first night imaging Saturn. After going through all the AVI's this is my best result from the lot Sky-Watcher Skyliner 200p + 2x Celestron Barlow + QHY5L-IIC. 250 frames stacked in AS2! De-Noise in Registax. Wavelets & tweaks in Astra Image 4.0 24/05/16 UT 00:30:46 Lytham, Lancashire, NW UK. -

Yeah I think IR filters are a must when planetary imaging, my QHY5L-II-C came with one built in.

Need more £££ for a better scope Incredible images! -
Only my second time observing Saturn last night so thought I'd try imaging it as the sky was nice & clear for once! All taken with Sky-Watcher Skyliner 200p + 2x Celestron Barlow + QHY5L-II-C. 100 frames stacked in AS2! De-Noise in Registax. Wavelets in Astra Image 4.0 Cropped & tweaked in CS6. 23/05/16 UT 23:55:23 Lytham, Lancashire, NW UK. Here's my second attempt. ROI was smaller so it gave me a slightly higher magnification. 120 frames stacked in AS2! De-Noise in Registax. Wavelets in Astra Image 4.0 Upscaled & tweaked in CS6. 23/05/16

Here's my first ever attempt at Mars. A bit unsure about it, still have more AVIs to process though.

Another one from yesterday, this time a close up of Hercules and Atlas located in the north east part of the moon. 240 frames stacked in AS2! De-noise in Registax. Wavelets, deconvolution for sharpening, micro contrast in Astra Image 4.0. Cropped & a few tweaks in CS6. 14/05/16 UT 19:40:48 Lytham, Lancashire, NW UK. Equatorial Wedge for Sky-Watcher 200p Dob
DOBGUYNORTHWEST replied to DOBGUYNORTHWEST's topic in DIY Astronomer
Yeah think I'm gonna go with them to be honest, all the calculations etc are too much for my simple brain haha plus I'm likely to mess up the required angles of cuts etc as everything has to be precise. -
Equatorial Wedge for Sky-Watcher 200p Dob
DOBGUYNORTHWEST replied to DOBGUYNORTHWEST's topic in DIY Astronomer
I've managed to find a place based in Europe that sell them for just over £200. Not too bad as the other ones I've seen pre-made are around £500. They look really well made too - http://www.sumerianoptics.com/products/eq-platform/ -

DOBGUYNORTHWEST replied to DOBGUYNORTHWEST's topic in DIY Astronomer
Thanks for the input! Yeah I was unsure about calculating the correct angle, still am. Hopefully someone comes along with an answer it's all abit confusing! (maths isn't a strong point of mine) -

Possibly, it looks quite difficult thought. I'm not one for electronics, I have no problems messing about with wood etc. -

How has the design held up for you? I'm looking at doing this myself as I have the same scope, any comments would be appreciated! -
Hi everyone, so I've been looking at upgrading to a new scope with tracking capabilities, but it is just not possible financially at the moment. (BOOHOO) I have seen this post where someone has made one before for the same scope - https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/236793-equatorial-wedge-for-sky-watcher-200p-dobsonion/#comment-2565512 Am I right in thinking I only have to change the angle of the base for my own design? Being at 53 degrees North, I presume I will have the base at a 53 degree angle? Also, I have looked at Equatoral Platforms & they seem a bit too complex for my lik

Thank you for the help! Think I need to start learning the different features more instead of just shooting them!
