  1. looks like your using a heritage 130p, which means you wont reach focus with your camera without a slight mod,  Once the Truss is fully extended , slide them back about 1 inch. This will help you achieve focus.

if you have facebook look for the EAA forums and a chap called marcus reed , he has posted some great pictures  of his EAA sessions with the same setup heritage 130p on an Az-gti.

  2. depending which route you take it ranges from as easy as "almost plug and go" to 30 mins - a couple hours work, setting everything up the first time.

if you buy the Astro-eq box and use standard motors  you just plug it in to computer, choose your drivers and away you go.

if you build it yourself,  you have to source the components, chose what motors you want to use, make your own brackets etc, and then chose the drivers to match the motors and other options you have chosen and away you go.

all depends how handy you are.

They supply the information for almost all known combinations of motors and gearing you could think of.  So Once you have decided you just upload the specs to your control box  connect it all to together and that is it.

the web site and forum give pretty good and clear instructions.

Once you have it set up the first time,  thats it, no need to worry about it.   I went the "plug n play route"  i.e  i bought the ready built box, standard motor kit and was up and running in 10 mins.  however the standard motor kit is a "slow slew" option.   better to use nema 14 or 17 motors and make your own mounts and belt connections.  Which depending how handy you are takes a little longer.

    Hi Bobby,

My setting is similar to yours, ASI224 + SW72ED or SW130p on a AZGTI. I  often use plate solving from SharpCap to refine my gotos and to adjust the alignment (plate solving and adjusting before "confirming" the star aligned in the Synscan Pro PCc app...). It is quick and works.

Maybe if I better level the mount before or play longer with start alignment I may need less plate solving later, don't know... The truth is I usually want to get to a target quickly and to be completely honest, I really enjoy to see the magic of plate solving in action and see the object sliding into (the rather small) view of my camera.

In AZ mode with a quick and not perfect alignment I can still do EAA, stacking 5 to 10 secs subs for few minutes without problem. I'm about to try the EQ mode of the GTI, maybe things are getting even better, let's see.🤞

Hi do you still use this method and setup?  especially the SW 130p?  do you live stack using sharpcap? or do you view using some other software?  do you do live broadcasts?   any chance of seeing your results?   have same set up and tryign to get EAA going but having a few problems   mainly with the actual goto accuracy.

    thanks

  4. awesome results and much better than my attempts from my bortle 5 skys lol.   am also using an Alt- AZ GTI but with 130ps and 183c.   but being having problems just  getting any sort of stars in focus.

So last night resorted to the lil Skywatcher st80  and Gpcam224 which worked a lil better  but this was best i could get of the 7 sisters,  so as you can see you are doing Fantastic.   Great Job keep at it.

  5. My personal choice if I was you and your budget stretches to it  would be the Following  -- https://www.firstlightoptics.com/skywatcher-mounts/sky-watcher-az-gti-wifi-alt-az-mount-tripod.html   at  £289  and a Heritage 130P optical tube,   New would be £143  or you could look for a second hand one  ( https://www.firstlightoptics.com/heritage/skywatcher-heritage-130p-flextube.html )  along with a 15mm and 8 mm  BST Starguider eyepiece.     could add a 2x barlow.

This combo would leave you with a very Portable Scope  that will show you almost every thing the night sky has to offer.

As to taking photo's  it is Possible with the Heritage, just takes a little more work than other scopes.

this is what I actually use as my main set up most often.

  6. yes it provides its own wifi, but only for  remote control via your phone, NOT for internet connection.

It comes with the same eyepieces as the heritage which are adequate however if your budget allows I would advise purchasing a couple of BST starguider eyepieces or a couple of second hand plossi's .

it is a very capable scope but more suited to planets than DSO''s than the 130 would be,   However you can always pick up a second hand 130 OTA at a later date if you wanted.

  7. The heritage 130P is a terrific scope and will give you fantastic views HOWEVER,  the mount is not very compact and there for not really suited to  being used as a Travel Scope. It does not disassemble.

You could look at the likes of  https://www.firstlightoptics.com/sky-watcher-az-gti-wifi/sky-watcher-skymax-102-az-gti.html   which would make for a VERY portable system.  and would be Terrific for planetary views.

Depending on budget of course you could get the Heritage 130p  and the AZ-GTi Mount,  and use the heritage optical tube with the AZ-GTi.

However Seems your also thinking about taking pictures?  what camera are you going to be using?  the Heritage is not aswell suited to Astrophotography as for example the skymax 102 would be.

I have the 130ps AZ Gti bundle. I’m doing mostly EAA and I’m very happy with it. One thing I’m not entirely happy is the focuser of the 130ps but if you go for the 130pds you will have everything sorted...

    Flavio

have the same  scope,  and looking to do EAA with it also, so was wondering if you could tell me what camera etc your using. Also any other pointers to help get me started would be great thanks

and sorry to OP if im hijacking the thread;)
