  1. I aim to image M1 a few more times over the coming months as an ongoing project. Its a bright nebula and easy to image. I'd like to get as detailed a picture as possible.

I do have more data. This data is from Monday night. I used the new WeightedBatchPreprocessing Script in PixInsight to process. I can't see much difference when I used the old BatchPreprocessing script but I find I do actually prefer this image over the other made the old way. Thanks PixInsight :)

Anyhow, here is Monday nights M1 processed the new way.

    Thanks for looking.

Looks pretty good to me, too.  I think I'm going to give this "lunar imaging through a filter" lark a go myself if the sky ever clears...

    Thanks too James.

As I said, it was just there. Looked very clear and bright. No tracking to worry about at 0.05s lol. And it was interesting to use Autostakkert again. Long time since I used that free program.

  3. I took this last week. Imaged over 7 hours but only used about 2.5 hours of subs due to clouds and cables.

    28 x 300 lights

    30 x Darks, Flats

    100 Bias

    Atik 4120EX OSC, C11 @ 2800. Mesu 200.

    SGPro, PixInsight

I think lots more time is needed to get a decent image.

    Thanks for looking

I hear ZWO have frosting issues with some of their cameras but QHY don't ?

Having used my ZWO 183mm pro for some time now, I can categorically say the camera does NOT have frost issues. :)

  5. I have an account with iTelescope. The images I take using their equipment are my images by law. I have taken test shots to get a feel for the camera/scope. I chose the rig I wish to use. I buy time on that rig. Images taken at that time with that rig are placed in a folder for me to download when I wish, within reasonable time frame of a few months. The images are supplied raw or calibrated.

I think iTelescope and other such organisations are a great thing to have available to the public.

I still have my own setup at home ( see my sig ) I just don't have the skies. iTelescope is not cheap. A typical image costs me around £70 using my preferred process. Compare that to buying your own gear and setting up, storing, repairing should anything go wrong. and having good weather! There is not much in it really.

If I add all the images I have in my library. That I have taken, processed and printed off or shown to family and friends ( not counting the fun/rubbish/attempts I post online  ;) ) Just the really worthwhile stuff. When all said and done...Remote imaging/renting is good value in my eyes :)

Meant to add - my retiring thought last night was that I should have a back up remote access system in place in case TeamViewer fails. My research pointed towards Microsoft Remote Desktop, but I will investigate Radmin too.

I have both TeamViewer and Anydesk on my remote ( garden shed ) laptop. For times such as this when one fails...does the other fail too? if yes, it's probably a PC Down/Off issue. If no, it's probably TeamViewer playing up again ;)

Hope you find an easy solution.

  7. This made me laugh :D

When I had the electricians working in my ROR Shed, I saw one guy hit his head a couple of times on the weight bar weights!! OUCH!! 😮  They were set horizontal as the roof was shut (raining). They should have asked for danger money lol. ( Or wore protective helmets  ;)

A friend of mine, when visiting my 10' x 8' shed, asked...Why so big? - Answer -So I can move without hurting myself 😛 ...... I will show him this thread when he visits next as good reasons ;)

  8. I can't complain. Even if my neighbour chopped down two trees in their garden, which they did last week, but left the tree next to my obsy standing. What they don]t realise is that it shelters my scope from the street light directly west of us. Three doors away that side. I always image to the East because that's where the darkest sky is.

I leave my neighbours to think what they will ;)
