My current eyepiece collection. I have the stock 25mm eyepiece that came with the telescope, Omni 40mm & 15mm, X-Cel LX 12mm, 7mm, 5mm, & 2X barlow nestled in a Pelican iM2050 case. -

I decided to try out a new filter while taking a picture of Jupiter. Seeing wasn't very good, but I was still very pleased to be able to take a picture of Jupiter's moon Lo and it's shadow on Jupiter. -
I'm glad my pictures have made you want to give it a try. The reason for the #8 yellow filter is because I'm shooting through an achromatic refractor and was experimenting with reducing chromatic aberration. The yellow filter seems to have helped with the added benefit of enhancing a little detail. I have a Baader Semi APO filter coming this week and look forward to taking some images with it installed. I understand that it's supposed to produce a truer color. It'll be interesting to see the comparison.

This picture was also captured the same morning as the previous image where I used a #8 Yellow filter. The camera is a NexImage 5, and this was taken without a 2X barlow. -

I woke up early the other day and decided to setup and have my first view of Saturn. I liked what I saw so much that I had to try and capture an image. Here is the result of my first effort to capture an image of Saturn. The tint is due to the #8 yellow filter I forgot I had installed. -

Grabbed a picture of Jupiter and 2 of her moons last night on 3/16/15, at 10:30 pm. I'm finally happy with the level of detail I could see with my 4.7" refractor. Seeing has been terrible, or my schedule wouldn't permit viewing since I got the telescope about a month ago. You should be able to see 2 moons on the right side of the photo. -

This is my first telescope. It's a Celestron Omni XLT 120 with a CG-4 mount. I have a 16" Orion pillar, single axis Orion drive, and an Orion 9X50 RACI finder. Also included was a William Dielectric diagonal, NexImage 5 camera, (8) filters, (5) eyepieces, and a 2X barlow. I think this will keep me busy for years to come. -

I took this image on my 2nd outing with the NexImage 5. Gain was set to 16, exposure was 1/60 sec. I experimented with some iCap RGB settings that I found in a YouTube tutorial. Red - 110, Green - 88, & Blue - 116, were the settings for this image and required no auto RGB balancing in the processing stage. Also, I didn't bother to rotate this image because I like a picture that shows the same orientation that I see in the telescope eyepiece.
