Congratulations on your successful first light session. Planning ahead will greatly add to your enjoyment and will be a big help in the learning process we all have to go through.
I hope you have success when talking with your neighbour . As for sleep deprivation of course the darker nights of Autumn and winter will help. I solved this by taking retirement, but this is rather a drastic measure unless you art of a certain age. Good luck with your journey into this wonderful pastime.

Terrible news. I hope the scumbags get caught.

Finally got a chance to look for this last night, but what a struggle. Sky was still quite bright at 1 am and even in the Dob it took more than 30 minutes to locate. At first I was unsure if I actually had found it but constant returns to the finder chart finally convinced me. Estimating mag was difficult, but I estimate it as slightly dimmer than mag 10, perhaps around 10.2.

I have never had this problem with my Delites. Eyepiece position locks tight and no slippage. I also like the tight fit of the lower caps. Much less likely to let moisture in during storage.

Another lovely set David. Good seeing here today and I had a nice session of WL and Ha observation. I really like the detail you are capturing in Ca-K.

Nice steady skies here, but of course not totally dark. Nova still seems to be brightening. I estimated it at 6.7. As and added bonus as I was packing up there was a nice display of noctilucent clouds over the Campsie hills to the NW. Not as bright or extensive as the other night, but still nice to see.

Yes, we are definitely ‘gappier’ than Jeremy’s data. Fewer people and poor weather I guess.
Also the very bright summer sky is making it more difficult to estimate magnitude, although I did get a reasonable value of 7.1 last night.
