  4. Hi and welcome to the forum. It does seem that every purchase of astro equipment comes free with a voucher for an umbrella!!! Never mind, the nights are starting to get longer now and you've picked the right time of year to get started and your binos will help you learn the sky very quickly. Why not write up a report on your first night's observing with your new scope, doesn't have to be too technical just a short story on how you got on setting it up and on what you observed. Always helpful for beginners and experienced alike. Wishing you clear skies! James
  5. Hi Andrew and welcome to the forum. Learning the sky with a pair of binos is a good start and will pay dividends when you finally decide on buying a scope. Astrophotography, or the 'Dark Side' as it is sometimes referred to is an interesting aspect of astronomy but one that can be expensive depending on how far you want to go with it. Look forwrd to seeing you post your widefield shots though!!! Clear skies James
  6. Hi Matt and welcome to the forum. Take your time when buying kit as you want to be sure that the performance will match your expectations and thereby avoiding the continuing cycle of buying and reselling etc. There is no rush as the stars aren't going anywhere and binos are a great start! 9. Hi Major Tom and welcome to the forum. I can confess I'm not an imager and the reason is because in order to get really good pictures, you've got to invest in decent kit. Sure you can take snaps or video and obtain reasonable images but you get what you pay for. I for one appreciate the time and patience of those who collect the data and then process it and I really enjoy picture of the week but I would certainly do some reading up with books like "Every Photon Counts" which I gather provide an excellent overview of how it all works and ultimately help you calculate how much it will all cost. 10. Hi Phil and welcome to the forum. Don't rush to buy equipment as its better to take your time and also cheaper to buy what you want from the start. Going to star parties and observation nights are the best resource to see what you're going to get for your money. Clear skies James

  12. Hi Martin and welcome to the forum. It can seem there is a lot to learn when getting into astronomy, especially the equipment side but in fact most of it is fairly straight forward once you give a little time to it. Clear skies for your new scope! James
