  3. Hi dafad, Sorry can't comment on the scope but congrats on your purchase! Here's to some clear skies to get out there & use them eh? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Hi devil20, It was happening for sure amazing sight! Like a little black spot going across Jupiter so watch out for it next time. Blimey you are close to home! The weather was shocking so I too was quite surprised at the clear spell. Whipped the scope outside to cool down like an opportunist!!! soon clouded over around 1-ish. 5 mins after I got my scope inside it started to rain again!!!! Ha phew! 5. I had a bit of an impromptu stargazing session last night! So glad I did!!! It was the first time I have seen one of the moons (Ganymede) transiting across casting a shadow!!! I know it's probably seen by thousands before but it's was a spectacular sight! Alas the M82 SN was eluding me as I have a south facing garden & the clouds were covering the view north plus lots of LP. I never tire of Jupiter though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I set out last night for a look but alas the clouds were blocking my view north. so it's still eluding me! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Hi Radscanner, Regarding adapter you mentioned in Q4, is it not the adapter for the 2" EP's? (If its the same thing I'm thinking of? ) I too have the standard EP's and have no problem with the 10mm plus barlow focus, great image of Jupiter and the moons can be achieved with this scope. I suspect some extenuating circumstances are causing your trouble. I view from a south facing back garden with low LP and its quite sheltered so I'm quite fortunate. Sorry I can't help with the Goto yet as I'm a total noob and I've not had the weather or cloud gaps to have a good play and power it up. I would certainly at least try to have a go out in the open then you can rule out any suggestions, just avoid the dogs and drunks!
  8. Oops that was supposed to be a lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. Hi Apollo459, The diagonal indeed does "make things the right way up". If you saw the moon the right way up then chances are, Jupiter probably was the right way up as well. Its a tricky concept to grasp with which way is which, with what piece of kit, at first. Sounds like it's working as it should anyway. Sue
  12. Hi and welcome to SGL! I'm a newbie too so don't worry, great advice on here. I maybe wrong but I'm sure I've read somewhere that dob mounts are not the thing to go for with AP. People with better knowledge on here will advise though. I know what you mean about the height / weight thing. I'm 5ft 3" and damn they don't half weigh some! I can manage the EQ3 Pro goto mount though it's on the heavy side for sure. Height wise I don't have a problem with these mounts, I've not extended the legs at all and I can reach the EP no problem. Might be worth popping to a dedicated shop somewhere or to a local group to see a wide variety of mounts to "measure up" There will be one near you somewhere (where are you in the uk?) From my experience, great bunch of people, full of advice and more than willing to let you have a play to be sure before you buy.
