  1. I have bought and started to read Making Every Photon Count and found it very interesting about deep sky astro photography. I have started to photograph the stars, moon and Jupiter with my existing Nikon DSL, lens and Tasco 1200 x 80 telescope with a manual equatorial manual. I am considering buying a Skywatcher 127 telescope with synscan. I was wondering what results I might expect using the telescope, compared to my existing set up?

The tracking will help a lot, if it is a Mak then it is better suited to planets. Concern is there is 1 moon and 3 planets. How many images of them do you want. The scope is not suited to DSO's. You do not say what the mount is, if Alt/Az it is not suited to DSO's either. If you want to "full" range of options=Planets and DSO's then you need a short fast scope and an equitorial. Posting this in the Beginning Imaging section would get a lot more answers.

      Thanks for your advice ronin.

  2. I have started to take some AP photos with my DSLR camera, lenses and Tasco 1200 x 80 telescope with manual equatorial mount. I think to get improved photos I need to get a motor for my vintage Tasco or get a new lightweight telescope with a go-to mount. Any recommendations are welcomed.

  3. I bought Stellarium mobile for my phone to identify some stars that I photographed. I was amazed with the information Stellarium has given me.
