Homemade observatory built from our old summerhouse that never got used. Makes snatching a few hours imaging a dream when the skies clear unexpectedly. -

Final image after 20hrs of 360sec subs in narrow band. H.O.O. palette with Lum extracted from CLS filtered subs. I still flounder a bit in PS, but images are improving according to the wife, and I won’t argue with her. -

Cheers Michael I have always thought slight de focus was a good idea, but this proves the point that good focus is a must. Just achieved 0.40” tonight. I got the idea of putting an I.R. filter on from my experience of photographing the moon. I could never get crisp focus until the nice man at Atik advised using an I.R. filter, so I tried the same thing on the guide camera. I wonder how many people are guiding with mono cameras and no filter. Clear Skies Paul. -

After months and months of trying to improve guiding I have nailed it. The magic for me was putting an I.R. filter in the guide scope. This improved focusing beyond my dreams and hey presto 0.5 total error. Never got close to this figure ever. 😉 -

Better colour balance and more space dust revealed. Improvement on original but feel it still needs work. Will add more subs when the weather improves to improve detail. -

First attempt at monochrome photography. Still lots to learn, but happy with the result. -

Taken with my Canon 60da. Quite a challenge to bring them out. The most dim objects I have photographed so far. -

First try at DSLR crop video imaging. 6000frames per image. 29 panes photo merged to make finished image. Seeing was pretty poor, but it turned out o.k. Will try again hopefully when conditions are better to improve on this effort. -

Just reworked M42. Just trying a few different approaches to photoshop editing. Very happy with the increased depth and colour balance compared to earlier attempts. -

First attempt at monochrome photography. Stage 1. This is the luminance layer. 3 more layers to do. Red, Green and Blue. Need a couple more clear nights to get enough subs to build a colour picture. Takes a lot of planning doing it in monochrome. Thank the lord for U tube videos. -

Pegasus focus cube. The most compact focusing unit ever. Light as a feather, and works beautifully. -
