I've got a bit of a soft spot for Tasco scopes as the first scope I looked thru was one (cant remember which but it was red ) It showed me M42 & Jupiter for the first time & as a 10 or 11yr old (30yrs ago now ) it wowed me completly. Obviously they are not up to todays 'proper' (not argos style though ) scopes quality wise but like anything u get what u pay for and as one of these ended up with me buying my 200p 30yrs later I'll never say a bad word against them

+1 again for the Skywatcher 130, Ive had mine for 4months & altho i've just upgraded my kit, the 130 is a very capable scope, its helped me get used to the workings of an EQ mount & for a newbie (which I still am) its worth every penny, I've never used the celestron but it sounds awful. Even though iv just bought the Skywatcher 200p on an EQ5 mount im still keeping the 130 scope to pop on now & again. I think all the above posts tell it how it is really, buy the Skywatcher!!! you wont be dissapointed.

Go to the welcome section (first one at the top of main page) & the 2nd post down explains the ranks & points required to reach them.Great site, great help...you usually find answers to almost every question in here.
Silly question, on what basis a member is given a celestial object?

You may have more posts since this one but, you get to the classifieds by reaching 50 posts. Apologies if u already know that.As a newcomer I am trying to accumulate equipment ( eyepieces, binos, tripods etc) but am frustrated I cannot access the classifieds.
I feel that on here I would find reputable sellers but am being driven towards the dodgy EBay and other sites that post warnings about scammers! Not encouraging!
I totally endorse the previous posts...The site is friendly and the advice is invaluable so please don't think I'm just a moaner.

Thanks for posting B.chap, I'm planning on doing the mod shortly aswell, i've been looking at Marks (Quatermasses) blog for direction & he's also been personally helpful but its always good to have more than one guide so to speak & it also means that if I run into any trouble i'll have another person to annoy with questions (Make that '2' more @ Olly )
