  1. I know this might have been asked before but im waiting to recieve my 10" dob and i would very much like to try some astrophotography, my question is do I need an equtorial mount or will i be able to get good pics without one?

      Whilst Ganymede12 is right .. if you have a tracking version - even if it is Alt Az, it is possible to do some deep sky astrophotography with it. One of our club members took a stonking M51 with a 12" Flextube SynScan .. and a Canon 1000D.

      Thanks for the heads up guys, i think i'll have to buy an equtorial base because will be a long time before i can afford a proper mount, pretty sure there around £1000, maybe i'll try make one :)

      A good second hand HEQ5 is about half that price :-)
