  2. Ordered an ASI120MM from ZWO. HMRC want £80 in duty/tax. I expected 20% VAT. But it should be duty free. So £199 + £20 shipping. Why £80!?

Also whilst I don't wish to be harsh on ZWO, when I paid for postage, I was under the impression that after that the only cost would be VAT+ duty. If its even got a chance of extra charges from a courier as well, I feel as though they should have this as a warning on their website. Perhaps I am being harsh.

Well I thought I had found a reason for it to be so high yesterday but I was mistaken. I suspect it will have 5% duty. So the total is up to around 60. The other 19 is a mystery (in my view anyway).

Ronin do you think I should go to the local DHL place to try and get answers? Its a bit of a journey. I'll try ringing them first.

They are just saying its £79. No itemised bill. Perhaps DHL are adding on fees without good reason. I didn't ask for them to courier it. Not sure why they can ask for fees I didn't agree to when buying the item.

Just the camera. Assuming its classed as a 'digital camera' and from Hong Kong. According to a duty calculation website it should be £44. Then 2% or £6 handling fees.

I went direct to ZWO because including 20% tax it wasn't more expensive than the UK. I expect I'll have to pay it then claim it back once Its been delivered. I'll give DHL a ring tomorrow :-)

DHL are the courier this end. They charge either 2% of the VAT/Duty or £6. So I expected around £50.

Yeh I think I'm going to get a longer cable also. Then have velcro pads to mount handset and focuser handset on the tripod legs. Would you mind linking me to the relevant cable for the focuser? Thanks.

I used a 2x barlow as well. The filter was awesome, had the gain almost on 0. Stacks definitely have a softer feel but more natural. Like flyin over the moon!
