Sounds like you get on with the processing well, the programs are so complicated if your unfamiliar with them, which I am tbh - still learning.

Got some good lunar shots so far, keep it up.

used all this type of stuff cos i was a printer for 15 years so messed around with artwork for jobs etc....gimp2 is a good programme but the interface is a bit clunky,,the best stuffs hidden...i just youtubed what i wanted to do and copied the tecniques i saw..pretty low level stuff though..plus i like pressing buttons to see what happens hehe....chris

  1. loaded into gimp as a layer..changed to a screen and colourised blue.

duplicated layer..changed layer to screen and colourised yellow.

duplicated a third layer ,screened and colourised magenta.

duplicated a fourth layer ,screened and left grey scale.

altered each individual slider to alter opacity of each layer until happy with shading.

    tweaked contrast and brightness.

image stacked in registax 5 using multiple alignment boxes.40 seconds avi with around 950 frames.

captured via xbox cam-(no barlow or filter) on a sw130 eq2 scope.

pretty much the same probs as you.getting set up and then clouds and rain ruin it..same with jupiter this mornig....just used the cam "as is" with the nose piece adapter....cut the cam front and the black lens holder almost flush...wacked a moon filter on and that's it really.....i found i couldn't get good focus with the barlow due to atmospherics so just captured as i was messing with the settings...more luck than anything else.....

caught between black rain clouds and spitting rain...used a moon filter in the nose adapter ,couldnt remove the ir film due to crappy tools...it was just getting dark but the brightness of the sky gave a bit of a glare..also noticed little crosses around the webcam screen (secondary ???) but these didnt show up....seeing was very poor but id like it sharper...im thinking it shows the crater plato...forgot how many times i flipped the image so not sure hehe...
