  1. Stu

I have been pondering a flattener or flattener/reducer for visual with  F/5.9 and F/7 refractors, both doublets and the ES 30mm 82º. Interesting to hear that you had some success with it, as I weirdly couldn't find any evidence of them being used for just visual.

It's not awful as it is but could be better, could you post a link to the one you have ?

    Cheers

    Duncan

  2. You can certainly spend that much (or more) on a decent mount, but I usually use mine on a monopod and trigger-grip ball-head -- this combo cost me a mere £55 (after I'd upgraded the monopod -- £33 with the cheap one -- but the trigger-grips have gone up a tenner or so since). Details at http://binocularsky....binoc_mount.php

I use the monopod and trigger grip with the 15x70s, as recommended by Steve, and it's great but if you go with 25x100s you'll need some thing more substantial.

  3. Both really but maybe more leaning on Zappa :). I change my sig often, when I get bored, or when i i amuses me to have something else. Sometimes philisophical, sometimes profound, sometimes stupid or just weird.

Bit like me really though I incline to stupid or ( being kind to myself ) weird :)

Rr ro go off ropic, tired and not with it today.

I haven't heard Joes Garage for maybe 30 years but the Central Scrutiniser must have lodged in my memory.

I was a Zappa nut when I was younger, saw him live in 78 and then bought all his vinyl, good to see there's some other weirdos on here.......actually there's probably quite a few.

    Cheers

  4. It would be great if it went in our lifetimes.......can you imagine the amount of people that would suddenly become interested in Astronomy...?

There again, I love looking at it and would miss it in it's current incarnation.

Amazing to think it's diameter is about the same as our distance from the Sun......it's a relatively young star.
