  1. I took part in one once.  Rather then image from light polluted earth, we put a telescope into space.  It was crowd funded using taxes (you know where I'm going with this...)

On the original point, it might not be doable, but it would be fun to try and the results would probably be spectacular.

  2. Not as good as most, admittedly however, my first Jupiter in 10+ years, grabbed quickly before the cloud rolled in 15/10.

SW 127 Mak and Opticstar PX-126C,  5000 frames, limited to 2500 stacked in Registax.

Now to add a Barlow to the mix next clear night...20_51_37.jpg.d8b64093f3ccca8da44c06f1adb12b1d.jpg

  3. Makes me feel lucky that I survived the power cuts and 3 day weeks of the 1970s.  Right in the middle of 'Are you Being Served' too!  'I'm free!'

Pretty sure that if you leave your freezer closed, it's gonna stay sub-Antarctic in there for 24+ hours and, hospitals should have generators (unless some MP has sold them), so we'll be alright.

  4. That's a very good question.  I've always brought mine in capped, but this is either to an unheated conservatory or; an unheated outhouse.  I've always capped the finder too, but this isn't so much of an issue.  I've not had any dew on the primary of my newt albeit this is a, roughly, similar design but with a much longer tube.  Having now added a Mak and a frac to my collection, I'll need to give these different considerations.

I'll be interested to see what the general consensus of opinion is.
