Does it differ in any way optically from the all black 127? I had that back in 2013/14.
Sorry, I didn't have one of those, so cannot tell. I assume that they are all the same, just with different paint coats. Blue, gold, black, black and white, but all the same on the inside.

I took part in one once. Rather then image from light polluted earth, we put a telescope into space. It was crowd funded using taxes (you know where I'm going with this...)
On the original point, it might not be doable, but it would be fun to try and the results would probably be spectacular.

That's the ticket! Thank you.

There used to be an on-line shop that had a massive section for returned, part-ex, end of line etc stuff. Cannot recall which one it was. Can anyone help at all please?

Just an OTA to put on my CG-5 GT.

Not as good as most, admittedly however, my first Jupiter in 10+ years, grabbed quickly before the cloud rolled in 15/10.
SW 127 Mak and Opticstar PX-126C, 5000 frames, limited to 2500 stacked in Registax.
Now to add a Barlow to the mix next clear night...

What a great series of images, especially for first time out with your new scope. Good stuff.

Just got my skymax 127 as well from FLO. Now waiting for a tripod to show up...
Oh, that's a good buy! I've had smaller maks in the past but never one of the 127s. Looking forward to getting it out when the cloud clears.

Surely if it gets below -15, you can just pop your frozen goods out in the back garden?!?

Makes me feel lucky that I survived the power cuts and 3 day weeks of the 1970s. Right in the middle of 'Are you Being Served' too! 'I'm free!'
Pretty sure that if you leave your freezer closed, it's gonna stay sub-Antarctic in there for 24+ hours and, hospitals should have generators (unless some MP has sold them), so we'll be alright.

That's a very good question. I've always brought mine in capped, but this is either to an unheated conservatory or; an unheated outhouse. I've always capped the finder too, but this isn't so much of an issue. I've not had any dew on the primary of my newt albeit this is a, roughly, similar design but with a much longer tube. Having now added a Mak and a frac to my collection, I'll need to give these different considerations.
I'll be interested to see what the general consensus of opinion is.

Yes just straight in the visual back.
Thank you.

This came in the post today, Eve though I thought they were on strike (fair pay for the posties!)

So this came in the post today...
And I also picked this up. Bit spoilt for choice now, but that's it for a long, long while!

My mind has gone blank (not unusual!). I haven't owned a Mak for many years. If I want to image the moon and planets with it, do I just pop the camera straight into the focus tube? No diagonal, correct?

I almost said a rude word when I saw this. It is a stunning image! Thanks for sharing.

Just...wow!

Thanks David. Excellent post and images. Makes me feel more confident about replacing now.

Sweet!
So I got this today....
