@wookie1965 Noted
If you pm me an email address and the sort of lists you are interested in, Open Clusters, Globulars, Urban Sky DSO's, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced stuff, Small Scope, Medium or Large etc I can convert them to text lists and I'll email them if you fancy...
Would you not mind that wold be very kind of you, could you do everything apart from large scopes I have a 4" refractor and a 8" reflector if there is any double star stuff I would like that as well if you dont mind really appreciate it.

@wookie1965 If you have SkyTools3 I can forward lists in that format...
How exactly might you wish to use the lists on a desktop ??
I can print them off even laminate them if i wish helps when planning a session, I have not got SkyTools3 sorry.

Those listed with the suffix .skylist are to be opened in SkySafari
Thank you for that appreciate it, can you not get the lists to get on a desktop do you know.

How do you open these when I click it goes to save, i saved it to the desktop then when i click on it, it asks what program to use. Tried using 7 Zip says cannot open archive.

It used to work for me. Don't look right down though. I don't think it's bright enough for damage but leaves a 'flash mark' for a few minutes.
Cheer`s Shane I will let you know how I get on.

Nice one mate
I used to just take the eyepiece out and (looking from the side not directly into the eyepiece holder) light up the drawtube and pop the eyepiece back in. The sun will be somewhere in the field once you practice a couple of times.
I will try that next time I usually use the shadow but not that accurate.

If I can get out I will try with my Tal 100rs (4")

Yes, but you need to do the refractor first and confirm that the optical axis of the focuser is aligned with that of the objective ie: with no diagonal in place, a well collimated laser in the focuser should exit the objective lens pretty much bang in the centre. If you then put the diagonal in, put the laser in the diagonal, and find that the beam now exits the objective lens off centre, that is a diagonal collimation issue.
Once the focuser axis is aligned with the objective lens, you check the tilt of the objective using the cheshire method described by AlisairW.
So checked collimation the Tal was spot on the diagonal however was way out, I have adjusted it now so should get better views now.

Thank you very much John much appreciated.

Checking the focuser is square with the Objective can be done by making a paper mask for the aperture and inserting a collimated laser ( like a Howie Glatter ) in the drawtube. Spin the collimator, and if the laser spot on the paper mask stays dead central - then your focuser is square to the Objective. However, this does not necessarily mean the Objective is collimated. This can be checked by inserting a Cheshire eyepice in the drawtube and looking at the reflection patterns ( that should overlap one another - like a donut ). If they do not, then the idea is to adjust the Objective - which on a triplet is not easy, and quite frankly a lot of fracs today are fixed Objective and can not be adjusted by push/pull screws on the Objective.
Thank you I will have ago tomorrow. Can I do the same thing to check collimation of the diagonal?

Sounds more like the end of the ota isn't 100% square and so the focuser isn't aligned with the objective. Have you ever checked collimation?
No I have not and not sure how to on a Frac. Reflector easy now.

Thank you Spaceboy I will look into that the focuser in it is smooth but when I rotate it the object im looking at moves quite a bit sometimes even out of the FOV. I thought a different focuser may stop this.

I can't see why? You would at worst have to approach a local engineering shop to have an adapter made which I'm sure would cost not much more than buying a commercially available.
Got this from another post I dont want to mess the scope up.

I thought of a new focuser for my Tal but I have read that they are tricky if not impossible to change.

Yes just copy information it is there for you I would think if you need to polar align an AZ mount (I dont know with not having one) yes use the polar finder position keeps mine tracked for a nights session.

I've tried that uninstalled it and in again rebooted phone nothing.

This is a brilliant app but could someone check it please every time switch it on says my GPS is off and to restart when gps is switched on. My gps is on.
