@Rattler. Now I’m seeing there in your two versions exactly what I’m seeing in my recent attempts at processing a wide-field image of the Cygnus Loop. On the one hand I like the delicate detail I see in your original images. On the other hand it’s good to see the bolder, far more colourful and impactful aspects of your more recent version. I seem to have the same ‘issue’ and am finding it difficult to balance those two extremes. I guess I just have to accept a compromise. Maybe I can’t have delicate detail and impactful in the same image!
Yeah, I know exactly what you are saying. Overall, I do prefer the recent images but there are aspects of the original that I prefer.

What do you reckon made the most difference?
Far better stretching methods. I separated the stars using ScreenStars and stretched the nebulosity and stars separately.
I used other processes such as BlurXterminator and NarrowbandNormalization.

Great picture. I like the visibility of the weak stuff. I know how difficult it is to pull up and separate from the background.
Thanks. Managed to pull out far more than my original processing of this data. Combination of new to me techniques and experience since then.

Fab!
what was the original like?
I’m considering going over some old data now I have a few more tricks up my sleeve!
Thanks for sharing
Bryan 😊
Cheers Bryan. Yeah, I've learnt a lot since and new processes in Pixinsight. This is the original. I've taken it off my fb astro page so won't look great anyway on here.

Great image. More OIII and SII would be great.
I captured 20 hours in OSC on this a few years ago with surprising results as it's quite faint. 15 minute exposures.
Look forward to see it once you have more data.

Beautiful shot, some lovely detail in there, I shot this the other nigh and got the star coming out a lovely yellow but I had a few guide issues that spoilt the star shapes a little.
Alan
Thanks Alan. I'll add to it at some point.
Shame about your stars. Is it very noticeable?

My favourite nebula. I love the colours, very subtle.
Thanks. Yeah there are so many variations with M42. I wanted the more subtle look like you say.

What an image! The inky background is striking and makes the galaxy stand out so vividly.

Posting Quark abroad- has anyone done this?

Hi guys. I've sold my Combo Quark to someone in Italy and sending it by Parcel Force. I'm struggling to find its exact description for the Tariff code. Has anyone done this or can advise? Thanks.
