  1. I have a G3 Starshoot camera which I have managed to use successfully, despite the rather buggy software.  Just over a year ago I was in contact with their tech dept about the software problems and they were going to do a rewrite for win64.  Contacted them a couple of weeks ago and the guy there suggested I use the latest G4 sofware version which I have done.  And yes, they have obviously done some work on this and the end results didn't need any further editing.  Still probably has a few bugs - the pixel squaring didn't work, but I think that may now be done automatically.

Looking online I see the G4 has been released in the US a few months ago.  It is basically the G3 with improved cooling - down to -20C - and with improved software.

  2. Well, as noone seems to know the answers and as I think I have sorted them out they are - yes, I think the orientation of the Debayer circles in Firecapture does reflect the orientation and the knob null point would be as shown in Martin Lewis's photos.  One reason why I had problems was that the null point should be pointing west rather than east.  I understand that earlier versions of this ADC may have been the other way round.

  3. I used the ADC on Mars and Saturn last night and, with the aid of Firecapture, I think I got it reasonably ok bearing in mind the low altitude.  However, the end results were not that good, probably down to the seeing conditions.  However, it could be me as operating in the dark seems to cloud my mind - thus I started out using a shorty barlow and wondering why the ADC would not fit in.  One thing I am not really clear about is the null position in relation to the ends of the lever slots and the white knob on the slidiing ring which is used to indicate the horizon.  And the Firecapture circles - their orientation also gives and indication of the horizon?

  4. As pointed out previously, you need to forget about the Barlow. And do make sure that the diagonal is properly in place, then put the 25mm eyepiece in. I assume that you haven't tried any sort of alignment but have simply pointed it at the Moon, or where you think the Moon is. I suggest that you also make sure that you have first aligned the finderscope - red dot I assume - properly during the daytime. You should then be able to find the Moon. As for the alignment method I suggest you try a one-star alignment with Betelgeuse. It's nice and red so you know you found it rather than something else.
