  1. Good morning all, Looking to download some sort of software to control my Canon 1DX for multiple imaging purposes, like setting exposure length and number of images etc Can anyone recommend anything that is simple to use and just controls the camera? Thanks Kirk
  2. Yes lucky Olly, yep understand what your saying but my brain is in meltdown already trying to understand it all!!Daytime photography was so simple to this type of imaging.I see you have the NEQ6 pro, just brought the same mount with tripod,it`s a beast!!
  3. I think simpler for now and hopefully get more advanced, there`s so much other stuff to learn yet like imaging with my Canon 1DX ,processing, stacking etc
  4. Thanks fifeskies for the video`s,yes Ebdons the camera has a st4 port,i was hoping to keep things simple to start with rather than doing everything on the laptop. Probably be doing some imaging in the field so am also thinking of a synguider even. Thanks Olly for your reply, maybe try the simple setup first and se how i get on
  5. Hi all, Brought a QHY CCD camera for guiding in my SW finderscope and have downloaded PHD2 for guiding and have data lead from camera to laptop and was going to attach a st4 lead from camera to my NEQ6 port but i`m now thinking that is not what to do as re the st4 lead. Need help please!! Thanks Kirk
  6. Hi, thanks for the reply, yes i think my finderscope has a locking ring and can be turned in and out but not alot of thread to play with, need a clear sky to try it. Thanks again for the info
  7. Hi all, Brought a SW 9x50 findescope and a qhy ccd camera for guiding and was wondering how you achieve focus on your guidestar?Does PHD software do this for you?And also theres little play with 3 screws on the bracket to maneuver the scope to a guide star again is this something the software does or the camera? As you can tell i`m a dumb newbie 🙄
  8. Yep ok thanks for that, check out Wex photo and video spec page for this mount, dont no why there specs are different
  9. Ok,cant find any specs for the NEQ5 it always comes up with HEQ5,its the Wex Website specs for that mount which is confusing, the overview says 9kg payload but in the specifications it says payload of 13.7 kg confusing!!
  10. Thanks Vlaiv for your response, yep that mount is definitely loaded up alright, maybe its the HEQ5 pro has that 15kg payload i`ll have go back and have another look.
  11. Hi all,on the lookout for a mount for astrophotography and the SW HEQ5 is popular, but the payload seems to be 9kg. That seems to be a bit light for mounting a refractor and camera, guidescope etc What are your thoughts on this? Thanks
  12. Yep thanks for your reply, had a look earlier and seemed a bit pricey for a new one so hoping to pick up a second hand subsistute if possible
  13. Hi, I`m looking for some advice regarding a field flattener/reducer for my TS 90mm f6.6 apochromat triplet, planning to use this scope with a Canon 1Dx with a full frame sensor. Not sure which one to buy. Any ideas anyone? Thanks Kirk
  14. These look great with lovely colours and detail, just need to find a decent second hand mount, struggling at the moment !
  15. Thanks for your reply,i see you have the scope i`m thinking of getting, how do you rate the scope for imaging etc?
  16. Hi peeps, Just starting a imaging setup and was looking at the Altair Starwave 80ed-R F7 it has S-FPL53 glass and a 2.5 rack n pinion focuser which leads me to my next question, has anyone here used a Canon 1DX dslr full frame sensor for astro imaging? My main concern is the weight comes in at 1.5 kg. Any thoughts about the above scope? It seems to have a pretty robust focuser. Thanks
