Strange, can you post a picture. Odd that you’ve had the same problem with two cos it sounds like damage. Have you focused it ok?..you can focus the scope just behind where you put your eye

Hi,doubt i can get a pic together but i didnt realise you could focus it,not sure how anything could get on it considering its all sealed up?

I guess you can take it out not sure how though

It should show up on both your scopes, leave guide scope looping and set your DSLR to max ISO using live view and an easy star hop up from Mirach  should show up in guide scope first.

Try a GoTo on something unmistakeable first like Betelgeuse to check it's working.

Yep think goto was out,ok thanks i`ll try those things you suggested.

    Cheers

  3. After finally getting set up with polar alignment and goto i attached my dslr and focused then slewed to M31 and took an exposure to find no galaxy in shot, checked my guiding scope which is a 80mm refractor with diagonal and 40mm eyepiece piggybacked on my main scope a Ts 90mm triplet and no sign of the galaxy in view.Do i need a wider fov eyepiece or is there another way to locate that galaxy?

    Thanks Kirk

The coordinates you gave were in GPS decimal format, the handset requires the coordinates in proper mapping units (degrees and minutes). To convert to degrees and minutes multiply the decimal component by 60 convert to minutes, hence 000 degrees, 29 minutes.

Ok great ,is there somewhere i can get the proper mapping units i need for my position?

The preview screen just displays the last image taken. It sounds like all the images in the test were over exposed. What were you aiming at for the test plan?

I set up indoors just to try APT out, only just downloaded it,yep i think you have nailed it i didnt realise the last image stayed there

Was it displaying a grossly overexposed or stretched frame? What were the saved images like when viewed later?

Hi,yes the saved images were overexposed which i thought they would be but i thought the image on apt window  would disappear after a few seconds and return to a black window

  7. Hi peeps,

Used APT earlier connected to my Canon dslr and made a lights plan to just for a test run and while the plan was running the large window for the preview of the shots taken was this bright white blank image and even after the short image session was over this white image stayed there, couldnt find a way of removing it.

The only way to lose was to double click to make a new plan.

    Any idea`s?

    Thanks Kirk

Albireo? or perhaps Almach? They’re beautiful orange/blue doubles but maybe the orange looked white due to brightness - it does seem to vary depending on sky position

    Mark

Yes thats it Albireo a cracking double, thanks Mark

Check if APT (astrophotography tools) is compatible.

I use this with my Canon EOS camera and find it very good.

    https://astrophotography.app/EOS.php

it appears to be supported according to the list
