  1. Hi All, I have a Sky-Watcher 7mm UWA 58° EP, see below, that I have some questions about. The EP has a fluted rubber element that turns, like the focussing ring on a DSLR lens. Am I right in thinking that this is for focussing and the idea is that you can use this to adjust the EP so you don't have to readjust the main focuser when swapping between EPs? If I'm wrong in that assumption, what is it for?! The eyecup has some degradation, see below. Is it possible to replace this and if so, where would I source one? Are eyecups interchangeable? Thank you all! fM
  2. Hola! I'm a recent member as well, unfortunately I've only had one night with no clouds in the 6 weeks since I got my 'scope....

    Hello!

@Floater @dave34 Thank you both for the welcome.
  6. @Rallemikken @Albir phil Thank you both for your replies. I attach a couple more pictures that better show the two elements. First, the cam, which presses against what looks to be a piece of PVC tubing. The cam is very loose, as can be seen in the first picture below. There is resistance as I press down on the lever, then the cam overcomes the PVC tube and goes loose again once it is 'engaged'. So it doesn't actually do anything. The second picture shows the PVC tubing. The third picture is a better angle of the grub screw and I can confirm it is not tight. You can also see there is some scraping / damage on the metalwork around the worm drive, I'm not sure what has caused this, nothing seems to be fouling. The original owner did mention something about how they found it difficult to assemble, so I wonder if they assembled it incorrectly and have since reassembled it properly?! Thank you all in advance! .
  7. Hi All, I'm a new member, having just bought a a second-hand Sky Watcher 130P on an EQ2 with the standard 25mm & 10mm kit eyepieces and a Sky Watcher 7mm Plossl. I have a couple of questions about the mount which I can't find an answer for, most likely because I don't know the names of these! Anyway, what is the cam circled below used for? And similarly what is the use of the grub screw highlighted below? Thanks in advance! Tim

    Hello!

Hi, I'm a new member, having just found the site and having bought a second-hand Sky Watcher 130P on an EQ2 with the standard 25mm & 10mm kit eyepieces and a Sky Watcher 7mm Plossl. Cost was £100 via Facebook Marketplace. I bought it for my daughter and I to do some star gazing. She is named after a star, so has become quite interested in astronomy. Unfortunately it has been overcast ever since we bought it, so in anticipation we have balanced the OTA in the rings as well as with the counterweight, we have aligned the RDF and we have set our latitude... We just need some clear nights! In the meantime, I have a couple of questions, about the mount which I will post in the relevant forum. For now, here is a photo of my cats, because, why not?! Thanks!
