  1. Perfect thanks Elp (and Bomberbaz) will I need any adapters, other cables etc? I can you see any glaring errors ? Is that me done "currently" with the expensive items Am i correct in saying that i do not need a flattener with the above setup ?
  2. Ah yes...phew, I was off searching for another expensive piece of equipment i hadnt heard of. Yes, I have a laptop and plan to control the guiding with PHD2
  3. Putting together a shopping list for my new setup in Spain. "Think" i've settled for the main components but im sure im missing some bits and pieces, what else do I need to make this all work. Will be used for imaging beginner DSO targets. Skywatcher AZ-GTi WiFi GOTO Equatorial Mount Head Package - I have the tripod William Optics Zenithstar 73 III William Optics 32mm Slide Base Uniguide Guidescope ZWO ASI120MM Mini guide camera D7000 Going by quoted figures total weight of the above is just under 4KG which i know is pushing the weight limit of the mount, will I get away with it ?
  4. Evening/morning all Just going through some beginner targets and entering into the above. Not 100% sure what this is telling me? When I enter say M42 i can visualise it, but the black space around the other isn't helping my brain 🤔
  5. Evening all. OK after much to'ing and fro'ing I "think" I've come up with a plan. Little bit of background first. Have a place in Spain, Bortle Class 3 skies and looking to get back into AP whilst we are over there. Looking to buy this mount already setup for EQ from Rother. I'm thinking of either getting the WOZS61 or WOZS73, leaning towards the latter I have a Nikon D7000 and D7100, which would be better or are they much of a muchness, for the photography side. I assume there are going to be a few "bits" that are also needed, so my main question, Is this setup going to be pushing the mount too far ?
  6. As the title says really, do we have any active members from this area?
  7. I'll check that out too, many thanks
  8. Are that rings a bell. Thank you.
  9. I'm sure I used some software a few years ago for showing what was in the sky at a particular day / time / location. For the life of me I can't remember the name ?
  10. Cheers....Im rapidly remembering how beautifully frustrating this hobby is. There always another way 🙈😃
  11. Many thanks again and no, I hadn't. So you mean this? https://www.firstlightoptics.com/alt-azimuth-astronomy-mounts/sky-watcher-az-gti-wifi-alt-az-mount-tripod.html
  12. 👍 Plenty of places to setup, either on the roof, the large concrete drive, or the land to the right of the house. With regards internet, being rural it's not fibre optic, we get speeds upto 30mb. Being out of the game for a few years can I ask if internet is needed "at the scope", not an issue if it is, just helps with my future planning. We are about an 1hr and a half to 2 hours from the airports, dependant on which you fly into and my plan would be to include car rental. Nearest town is Orce, about a 7 min drive, which has basic supplies, Spar, couple of bars, restaurants etc. With Baza being about 30 mins away, large supermarkets etc. Haven't even thought about rates yet to be honest, still got to get the tourist licence which we hope to sort later this month.
  13. @Mandy D I used to be fairly active on here and got into AP, had a C8, EQ5 and was learning stacking etc but due to limited skies where I used to live, surrounded by flats, trees and Tesco gave up. It wasn't until we were sitting outside in the Spanish place and looking up, that my interest got rekindled and I'm already on the slippery slope of researching gear.... We are going to rent the place out anyways and this is another market that make use of the great skies and peacefulness.
  14. Thanks for the detailed response @ONIKKINEN So considering the price of the EQ5 vs EQM, the EQ5 wins hands down. I assume that will be the same with the regards the Star Adventurer GTi, considering that's £600 with a tripod and bearing in mind what I intend to use it for
  15. Yep know it, we looked at a property near Albox, then stumbled this one. Sorry to hear about the eye, that's never good. So if you were to go on an AH would you expect gear to be provided or would you expect to take your own travel setup? I'm "hoping" the later, to save our costs 🙏 😀
  16. Thank you, it really is, so peaceful. Have you been, would you go on a astro holiday ?
  17. Sure thing.....excuse the "dodgy" video. Estate agents copy... Screen_Recording_20220922_163506_Chrome_2.mp4
  18. So the EQ35 is an updated EQ5, would that be correct ?
  19. Afternoon/evening, bit of advice please I was going to get the Star Adventurer GTi, plan to do milky way, dso photography, but it is out of stock everywhere. I don't need massive load capacity, probably getting a redcat 51 or similar in the future, so I won't be going Heq5 Out of the three mentioned above which would be the sensible option. Been out of the game for a while, I now the EQ3 and 5 have been around awhile l, haven't heard of the EQM 35 Pro before, do they share all the same internals? The EQ5 and EQM 35 Pro are similarly priced....argh confused
  20. Used to be quite active on these forums a few years back (Chubster) but gave it all up due to time, postage stamp sized garden and rubbish weather.... but, we now have a place in southern Spain and the sky's are amazing. The plan was always to rent the place out but I hadn't considered it as an astro holiday destination, until now. The property is based in Fuente Nueva with Bortle 3 rated skies, 4 double bedrooms, 2 singles, internet, mains water, etc. The property itself is a cave dwelling, typical of the region so benefits include consistent cool temps inside, even in summer and you can walk out the back door and start observing on the roof....or the ample terraces. Some feedback would be great from those that go on, or are thinking about going on an astro holiday. The property and location speak for themselves but as we are starting from scratch it would be good to get some ideas from the community as to wants/needs/nice to haves etc...no we won't be building an dedicated observatory - well not yet anyways, we all know how this "hobby" spirals 🤔😀 Cheers Chubster
  21. Evening all. I was thinking of getting a Sky watcher star adventurer gti with a redcat 51 for getting back into AP....but could I get excellent results with just my dslr - D7100 - and a good lens ? I will be in Bortle 3 skies
  22. Evening all. So i've read a couple of reviews on this and most seem positive. Anyone have one/used one? Im looking for a goto mount that can track and that i can use for AP. Will probably team it up with a william optics redcat. Any reason why i shouldnt ?
  23. Cheers for the responses guys. Yes, sorry, should have made myself clearer. I don't have the c8 or eq5 mount anymore, that was more of a guidance of what I've spent before for budget purposes. Here is what I'm thinking currently. William Optics RedCat 51II with a Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi mount.
