  1. Hi all Just wondering if anyone has experience with the Berlebach Spica? The mount head alone not the omega system. I'm looking at one for a sw72ed. Seems like it may be a good match with options to expand later. Thanks in advance
  2. Seems like a pretty strong push to the 80ed. The one Im looking at is a TS 80ed through telescope express. OTA only The sw 80ed is $1449nzd locally but comes with a diagonal, finderscope and 2" to 1.24" adaptor and let 28mm eyepiece.
  3. Hi all. New to astronomy. I currently have a 130p heritage collapsible dob. Looking to get a refractor. Ts-Photoline 60ed. FPL 53 Glass. $824nzd TS-80ed. FPL 51 glass. $929nzd Svbony 70ed. Not sure about glass. $813nzd Visual at first but aspirations of EAA so will probably get an az gti mount at some stage....might be pushing it for the 80ed. I understand that the FPL 53 glass is preferable for EAA but am a little concerned that it may be some time before I get the gear for EAA and the 60ed may be a bit limiting for visual....although long term it may be a better scope than the other two. There may be other contenders in the same range, evolux 62ed etc. Shipping is fairly costly which gives the 60ed a bit of an edge. Thoughts appreciated.
  4. I was considering the star travel 102 or 120. Here they come this the az3 mount which doesn’t seem to have a good reputation and can’t be used for EAA. How do you find the chromatic aberration?
  5. Hi all. very new to astronomy . I currently have a 130p heritage collapsable dob and am planning my future purchase’s. I’m on a fairly tight budget. Im looking at a combination of small refractor EAA for DSO and a Mak for planetary. There is a 127mak on a az Gti mount available for a pretty good price. The mount could then do double duty with a small refractor for EAA. Probably a Evoguide 50ed or an Evolux 62ed. The entire setup is much cheaper than the usual celestron SCT range and I figure if I get bad cases of aperture fever I can used the refractor as a guidescope later. I don’t have a huge budget and the second hand market is small here (NZ). Any obvious pitfalls with that approach? Thoughts appreciated.
