  1. Thank you ....this one is a stack from the same evening. best 25 percent of 6000 frames. 38 fps exp 11.878 ms gain 80 raw 8 6000 frames 157 seconds captured
  2. Good Morning Where would I look to see examples of what good video captures of Jupiter should look like? Thanks and cheers Roger
  3. Hi Philip....thank you. Yes I was a member but have been away a few years.....life events and the split roof on my observatory became a bit to heavy for me to flip open. Nice to be back and learning....again. Cheers Roger
  4. Hi All....I am wondering is it possible to align a flip mirror in the daytime? Cheers and thank you Roger
  5. Should the red, green and blue be equal to each other in the sharpcap histogram?
  6. Hi folks What settings would get more color in captures? Thank you Roger
  7. Hi folks I found a great video tutorial on wavelets which has been an eye opener. I was processing a Jupiter Tiff in Registax using linked wavelets. I did the suggested noise and sharpening levels in each layer....checking the sharpening with the slider as I was inputting the numbers in each layer. I was amazed at the sharpening as I proceeded. The data I had captured seemed to be quite adequate for a decent image (for me) When I got to the end I saved the scheme under Jupiter that I typed in and now I can't find it...drat! How do I get7load that wavelet scheme again? Thanks and cheers Roger
  8. Just wondering how to get that nice bright glow in Jupiter images?
  9. Hi folks......I am still trying to get my old head around learning imaging. I was out this morning with my Celestron 9.25 SCT usingn a 2x Barlow and a ZWO ASI 120 MC camera. I am grateful for members kindly offering their experience and tips. I was capturing for 2 minutes...50 percent histogram and anywhere from about 35fps to 52fps on different captures. I think where I was going the wrong way before was I was capturing too bright images and blew out most of the data (?) I have been reading tutorials etc. and am understanding more about exposure, gain, and fps. I used Autostakkert and Registax 6....though I still have difficulty understanding the wavelet settings....just thought I would send this image....it is a bit of progress for me....though lacking... Thanks for looking and any suggestions
  10. Hi folks......pretty hazy skies here lately so I haven't been able to try for some Jupiter videos. I have the ZWO ASI120MC camera and using the supplied all sky lens have been experimenting with different settings indoors. On a 155 second capture of 8000 frames I used 2x binning and got 51.5 fps. I had set to a 50 percent histogram I wonder if this will be helpful when I can have another Jupiter session .
  11. I did run files through virtualdub and they play ok in vlc but just wont load.....not sure what I am doing wrong here(?)
  12. I am using a ZWO ASI 120MC camera and cannot get gain more than 100. Is there a setting where one could get a higher range of gain? Thank you
  13. Good Morning folksaug 25 m.tifGetting back into this again after a few years....and I expect to be in the shallow end of the pool for some time. We have some forest fire smoke which may have contributed to the poor seeing this morning (?) I did have the .63 focal reducer on my (.25 SCT as a few days ago was hoping to capture some bigger size lunar images. I used a ZWO ASI 120MC with a 2x Barlow. Captured with the barlow preview on....at about 40 fps (I think) capturing 5000 frames. Then ran through Autostakkert using GRBG bayer matrix , drizzled 1.5 and saved 50 percent of frames ,,,then ran through Registax 5\ Was tweaking wavelets to try to increase signal and decrease the noise but seems to be a pretty noisy result Thanks for looking and for any input Cheers Rogeraug 25 m.tif
  14. Thank you,,,,I will experiment with the ZWO ASI 120 mono camera
  15. Hello: I am wondering if there would be any advantage to lunar imaging with a ZWO mono camera just using the red filter? Cheers and thank you Roger
  16. wow....thank you again for your detailed advice....from a grateful old guy
  17. Thank you so much........Not sure what IIRC is though(?)
  18. Hello folks it has been a few years since I last was out imaging (getting old and my observatory roof was too heavy to flip open....but have finally fixed that). I would like to image Jupiter.....I have a ZWO ASI 120mc camera, a 9.25 Celestron SCT and some Barlows. I am having senior moments (again)understanding the following: I capture the sequence in Raw? Then before stacking would i have to debayer...in PIPP or in Autostakkert? Also if my polar alignment is a bit off does Sharpcap or Firecapture have in their program a feature that will help keep Jupiter from drifting out of view? Thank you for any suggestions and it's great to be here again Cheers Roger
