Thank you all your warm welcome!
It was literally hell obtaining my new telescope, it's a much longer story than i should type here, but the main thing is i finally have it. If only the winter storms would stop now!

It's too bad they saved a few bucks by not adding a proper voltage regulator which would have taken care of this problem.
I thought the exact same thing myself actually!

I have the exact same eyepiece in the 9mm magnification, and I can also say that it is a nice sharp eyepiece, especially for the money, but as mentioned above, I also notice the kidney bean effect. You have to get your eye just right, but because of the long eye relief it's worth it for guys like me who wear glasses.
I have the 6mm in my Amazon cart right now!
Clear skies!

Glad you upgraded your eyepieces and are happy with the results.
I just signed up here and seen this post, so I wanted to just say hi, and that I had the exact same scope and also upgraded my eyepieces. I bought mine from ali-express, and they were all budget plossl eyepieces, but still noticeably better than the stock celestron ones.
Don't cheap out on the barlow lens though, I had a cheapie one and a better one that definitely made a difference especially with 6 and 9mm eyepieces. Don't waste your time on a 5X Barlow lens, or even a 3X one, neither of those seemed to work well with the 127mak scope, even though they were expensive ones.
I'm by no means an expert yet at all, the 127mak Nexstar was my 1st scope, but I know it very well inside and out, so it's about the only scope I'm actually qualified to give an opinion about lol.
One thing I should also mention a bit off topic about that scope that caused me tremendous issues was the fact that if you use rechargeable lithium ion batteries, DON'T, they totally mess up the computer and cause a myriad of weird issues. Use either regular batteries, which suck, or, use the Celestron brand AC adapter plug. The unit is very finicky about voltage and even some power tanks cause the scope to lose it's mind. I wish someone would have told me about this in the beginning, so I'm mentioning it to you now.
It's the main reason my 127mak wouldn't track right or hold alignment according to Celestron tech support. There's nothing more depressing then seeing the words "ALIGNMENT FAILED" on your handpiece display when your excited to see a target.
I don't own my 127mak anymore, had to sell it s few years ago due to illness, but i just bought an Orion StarBlast 6i IntelliScope Reflector dobsonian telescope table top mount. It's a push to, not a go to.
Good luck and clear skies!

Hi guys and gals.
As I mentioned in a previous post, looking at a new scope for a beginner.
I was deciding between the SW Virtuoso GTi heritage 150p or the 127 Mak in the same line. I have gravitated towards the Dob for the (pun alert) "flexibility"
My question is more out of curiosity than anything else, but...
What are the Celestron Starsence Explorer's like, more specifically, the Sct's 5&6 ?
I ask because I like the idea of a Goto middle ground of the explorer, where you have to do some of the work your self, learn and be more involved...
..but what gives with the Sct's in this range, are they a worthwhile investment over a cheaper Dob. ?
What am I getting for more money, less aperture and less tech, but I guess a proper mount.
I used to own the Celestron 127mak Nexstar goto scope, and it was an ok scope, but I had alot of frustration with the alignment and tracking, they just never worked as they should have, especially the tracking. The alignment failed constantly, and the tracking would just suddenly stop working and the object would track off the field of view, and i would have to align a over again to correct this. It really killed my enjoyment after awhile.
I ended up getting a whole new replacement telescope from celestron, but guess what, the exact same issues occurred.
I had some really nice views of the moon and planets, and even the solar eclipse with a solar filter, but it just was plagued with issues, so I sold it.
I also found it quite cumbersome to lug around, as I have some physical disabilities, and the tripod was quite shaky even when I weighed it down with weights.
These are all reasons I would not recommend this scope. Also, the whole time I had the 127mak, I regretted not buying a dobsonian scope.
I went a couple years without a telescope, and I just went down the same path you are going down now, trying to choose a scope, and its hard, because there are no perfect scopes, especially in the beginners price range. There is always something about a scope that is a weakness or needs improvement.
I settled after much consideration on the Orion StarBlast 6i IntelliScope 6 inch dobsonian table top.
Apparantly the focuser sux, but it's more than made up for with the portability which is important to me as I simply cannot lift a full size 6 inch dob, and from what I understand it can function as a wider field ot high magnification depending on your choice of eyepieces.
There is no perfect scope, but this one fits my needs.
Clear skies!

Hello all,
I'm somewhat new to astronomy, been in and out of it over the past few years, mostly out of it due to serious health issues.
I just bought a new scope, waiting for it to arrive, it's an Orion StarBlast 6i IntelliScope dobsonian, hope it arrives soon, althoughall we have are cluody skies here for the foreseeable future of course.
I also have an old Tasco 60mm scope that ive been playjng around with, after a few good views of the lunar surface I'm hooked again, lol
Thanks for accepting me to the group, blessings!

Greetings from Nova Scotia Canada

Hi Mike, yes, Nova Scotia grows on you, and if your from here, it's in you for your entire life. I spent many years in British Columbia, the whole time missing home. I have family in Antigonish, it's nice there. Unfortunately, as is the norm for here, the weather is well, wintery, lol. I'd like to blame it on the telescope purchase, but its just the way it is here. Currently -28C, ice storm and many without power. Good thing my jnteliscope takes batteries.
Blessings and clear skies!
