Hello Toltec, I also just purchased a GOTO and it took a little practice to get the alignment consistent. One thing that helped was choosing alignment stars with large differences in RA and DEC. Best of luck.

Hello, I'm a long time observer who is new to the forum community. I've spent all my time observing with an Odyssey and star hopping my way around. This year I bought an Orion GOTO just so that I could step away from the scope and come back to pick up where I left off. I'm also hoping it will save time when I'm fumbling for eyepieces by keeping the target centered. It saw first light a couple weeks ago and seems like I made the right choice. Let's hope the clouds stay away this weekend to really shake it down. Blessings to all.
