Hey all,

I am aware of how popular this dobsonian is these days so I thought I would make a thread showing everything about it.

I shall start out with what is included if you buy one of these new and the assembly required.

Delivered you will get 2 massive boxes

One contains the optical tube assembly (OTA)

it also contains these parts

which are:

> 2 inch eyepiece adapter and cap

> 1.25 eyepiece adapter and cap

> Optical 8x50 finder and holding bracket with elastic band to go inbetween the two

> A 25mm wide angle 'super 'eyepiece with caps and a box

> A 10mm 'super' eyepiece with caps and a box - I believe this EPs to be Kellners

> An instruction manual and promotional leaflet

The second box is heavier and contains the mount

It has 5 sections with a manual and these fittings:

which includes:

> Carry handle for mount

> 2x tension handles

> 3x feet for mount

> 4x holding blocks for OTA

> Eyepiece holder

> Swivel bolt and bearing

> Alen key fixing screws for most of the building work

> Some tools (I never use the ones supplied with this kind of thing)

So after the mount is built it looks like this:

Nice Collection, I hear good things about hyperions. What is the eyepiece top left?

Here's mine. Standard Maplins case with cutouts for EP's, finders, Cheshire, tools, battery pack and hand controller plus a red light torch.

I also fitted a string of red LED fairy lights to the lid

Those lights are a great touch!

Oh my John, I think I may have just wept inside a little. What scope/s do you use with those?

Hey all, I made a thread about my cases but didn't realise this was here!

I bought a couple of those flight cases from Maplins while they were in the offer. I figured I would have one for my photographic stuff and one for observing kit (even though I don't plan to do much astrophotography).

The cases are really good for the 20 quid I paid. Unfortunately they have jumped back up to 35 quid again. So anyone who is interested but patient should probably just wait as they can go down as far as 15 quid.

I don't want to make a start on the second case until I can make some final decisions on some eyepieces for my future scope. Does anyone have an idea about fitting an 8" Bahtinov mask in a case like this?

Is the pdf safe to download?..Just wondering why Tophouse was banned....

No idea on why but it has worked out fine for me...

I have just bought the adapter, spc800, filter and the 3 quid flashing done for me.

To clarify, I then need to install the latest driver and download some running software and stacking software and I am good to go?
