  1. Some difference should be between the two, to justify the surprisingly big difference on price 😀
  2. TS-Optics 6" f/5.9 Refractor could be an alternative as RFT to the Bresser but i don't think that any of them are for Planets and Moon I have a Mak 127 and a faster achro- 120/600, but there is no comparison between the Mak and achro on Moon, Mak is blowing away the refractor
  3. Currently, I did an upgrade to my 120/600 achro to accommodate a binoviewer; still waiting for the Maxbright to come- it is a large delay on supply I spent more on the focuser and adapters than on the refractor On the other hand, I have read nice reviews about the 150 F5.9 refractor above and just wanted to see someone using the shortest optical path (T2/ T2 to M68 short adapter) to see if can accommodate binoviewer, without starting to change focusers/ cutting tube and so on
  4. Thanks a lot Louis! I did not take in consideration Morpheus so far- I had a Hyperion in the past replaced by APM; great mechanics but not happy with the eye placement (Hyperion)
  5. Hi folks! Need your advice if you had the chance to compare the 2 directly. I have APM XWA 13mm (wow, great visual experience, in both below scopes), APM XWA 20mm ordered/ to come. Aside this, I have 2 Vixen SLV 25 mm for binoviewer and planning to buy 2 Vixen SLV 10 mm for the same. Vixen SLV is being considered the small baby of Pentax XW (contrast, light transmission but smaller FoV) For wide fields/ low power, APM is nice but i was wondering if for high power the same ultra wide is useful or better to go towards comfort (like Pentax XW). Or Vixen 10mm is too close to Pentax XW, no point taking just a little bigger FoV? When the budget will allow, I am planning to go towards same logic- either Pentax or APM XWA, for the smallest focal length. Pentax XW 10mm and 7mm are well known for (probably) best of class around this size Current scopes are 120/600 SW achro and Mak 127 but planning to buy in the future APO or/and C8 or/ and Mak 180 Current mount is manual EQ5 and AZEQ6 Thank you!
  6. The vendor is switching the delivery time every month, one month in advance. Few days ago they told should be June end/ July There are so many good reviews still keeping me to desire this bino, but i feel like running for an oasis mirage in desert, the closer I am to receive it, the farther the bino I see 😀
  7. Hi! Have you encountered the same problem- I have ordered the Baader binoviewer from a local vendor from Romania, as a Christmas gift, and it hasn't arrived yet. Hopefully will be here by next Christmas 😀
  8. Hi! I am re-opening the discussion- I have asked Teleskop-Service, and they have been very helpful- they confirmed that with a " T2 90° diagonal, an M68 to T2 adapter will work. Unfortunately you have to rotate the whole setup by loosening the knurled screw from the focuser, but it works fine" Can someone confirm, who has this telescope? Thank a lot!
  9. Hi Scotty! Just looking again on TS website (i presume is the same scope) and it seems that there is a little more space - approx. 149 mm from the 2" receptacle and approx. 174 mm from the M68 thread if you use a short adapter from M68 to M42 and use 1 short Baader 1.25 diagonal, wouldn't work? 174mm will be on the edge but may work thank you!
  10. Thanks a lot Mick! The Moon through Lacerta binoviewer/ Mak is outstanding, only the ergonomics are disappointing. Looking forward for some inputs on Maxbright vs TS wide thanks a lot!
  11. Hi! I have ordered the Baader Maxbright2 binoviewer but the seller told that is out of stock and may come only few months later. The same I saw on other retailers. Any idea if is worth waiting or shall I order the TS-Optics 1.25" Wide-field Binoviewer? Not too many reviews, at first sight it seems that the TS would have some slightly bigger clear aperture, same T2 connection and self centering eyepiece connection, but longer optical pass with 1 cm and heavier. How does it compare with a Maxbright? Currently i have a Lacerta binoviewer, posted to be sold. Unhappy with the long tube on the telescope part (instead of a T2 connection) and I find very difficult to put the eyepieces right with the screws, when I am locking it, the eyepiece position is changing in all directions, otherwise is fine Will use it with current Mak 127 (and trying to adapt to an achro SW 120/600), but planning to go with a Mak180/ C8/ maybe smaller binoviewer friendly APO in the future Thank you!
  12. Not the answer I was looking for , hoping that it works.. Thanks a lot Scotty!
  13. Hi friends again! Another quick question- would this eyepiece be good for binoviewer, would anyone experienced it? I have a SW 120/ 600 achro and a Mak 127 and just recently bought a Maxbright 2 binoviewer (waiting to come 😀). Together with the bino i have ordered a duplicate of my SLV 25mm. Also I already have 2 Goldine 20mm eyepieces. Aside all of this, I have a Lacerta UWA 16mm/82 and was wondering if worth duplicate it for bino. It is pretty close to the 20mm Goldline but i suppose the optics are better- wondering how works in a bino Thanks a lot in advance!
  14. Hi friends! Quick question please, if any of you have bought recently one of the 2 refractors, would these 2 have enough focus to accommodate a binoviewer without GPC? I have read here that in the past, the V1 refractor had a huge focus, able to accommodate a binoviewer even with 2" diagonal but the newer versions/ lighter seems having a thinner and longer tube which does not allow this Thanks a lot, clear skies!
  15. Hmm, after cleaning should you colimate again or usually preserves the alignment? thanks for the quick reply!
  16. So another CC on the short list; seems a little expensive. I see an F12, so probably a little wider FoV than Mak 180 What about dust/ other stuff, at some point of time I presume some dust will be covering the mirrors, how do you clean it? Thank @Fedele and @HollyHound !
  17. Last night i had a short period of clear sky; let the Mak 127 outside for one hour to cool down and after i got kind of 30 min of clear sky Moon was superb through the Mak 127/ APM 13mm XWA, with kind of 115x. Was spending some time on Montes Caucasus, where the shadow was prolonging gracious to Aristillus and Autolycus craters I have changed to the binoviewer (Lacerta with 20mm SW Gold line eyepieces) but the sky was already with some fine clouds and the view was not as brilliant as should be through a bino Attaching a picture done with the phone through the APM eyepiece, from my hand direclty. I love my small Mak 127 and looking forward to you folks to share your experience on the big brothers, the 180, C8 and now also the CC8 😀
  18. Living in a flat, not at house, I have to prepare carefully each round of observations; if I am not using the small Mak from the balcony for Moon only/ from the middle of the city, I am putting all stuff in the back size of the car from the morning, let the car non-exposed to Sun and usually all instruments are good with the right temperature The temperature drop here is not so big, usually there are about 10 C degrees delta between day and night, which i think should be acceptable for a Mak 180 (the worst with temperature accommodation). During the night, from 21.00 eg to 2.00 time, the delta temperature should be 2-3-4 C degrees So, pretty curious to see new experiences/ comparisons between the 3 instruments in real life, mostly on DSO! @dweller25, thanks a lot for sharing your experience! 👌
  19. Not yet on buying mood, still saving money, but studying it 😄 @johninderby, i have read twice your post with the acquisition and upgrade
  20. John, many thanks for sharing your experience, if I was clear on Mak 180 or C8, now you are changing my mind 🤔 Would take the opportunity to ask other members of the forum to share their experience with CC8, C8 or Mak 180, if you had the opportunity to have any of the 2 instruments in parallel Anticipated thanks!
  21. John, Stu, thanks a lot for the quick revert! @John, wonderful setup! I was considering CC 200, but saw on forums that is not working at full aperture and kind of dimmer views than C8 because of this- otherwise the central obstruction would have been larger. Also question on CC 200- is it possible to use with a binoviewer without GPC?
